6.14.26 Sermon Summary: Go Tell
Testimony: sharing what God has done and is doing in our lives. Not a Sunday morning sermon, but telling others of answered prayers, God incidents both large and small that have happened, and areas you see God moving in your life. Someone needs to hear yours.
Mark 5:21-43 gives an account of Jairus seeking Jesus to come and heal his twelve-year-old dying daughter. Jesus agreed to go but was detained from going by a woman with a bleeding issue for twelve years seeking healing from Jesus.
Jairus, a synagogue leader, had faith that Jesus could heal his daughter with a touch. The woman had faith she would be healed if she could just touch the hem of his garment. Malachi 4:2 in the NKJ says, “But you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arrive with healing in His wings.” A Hebrew word for the hem of the prayer shawl can be translated as wings.
Among all the people pushing and shoving Jesus as he walked, He stopped to ask who had touched him. The woman, in fear, came forward and told the whole truth of her life, from the bleeding issue, spending all her money on care that didn’t work, being embarrassed, desperate, and defiled. One who looked past the Law for grace and received healing.
While there, a group came and told Jairus it was too late; his daughter had died. Jesus heard and told Jairus to not be afraid, just believe.
Jairus, in maybe the worst moment of his life, heard his daughter had died. But Jesus had arranged life moments so that Jairus heard the woman's amazing testimony. A testimony that encouraged and renewed his hope that his daughter also would be made whole. Her testimony made a huge impact on his life.
If you are a believer and saved by the blood of Christ, you have a testimony. It’s proof and evidence of Christ in you. Your testimony glorifies God, shows his faithfulness in our lives, and encourages others. Someone needs to hear your testimony. Go tell.
