The recent air quality monitoring workshop in Mexicali reflects the vision of the Coalición Binacional de Justicia Ambiental (CBJA): providing communities with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to advance environmental justice and improve local health.
By teaching residents how to build and use air quality monitors, this initiative helps transform community members into environmental advocates and local leaders. Access to air quality information is a powerful tool that allows communities to better understand environmental conditions, document concerns, and participate in decisions that affect their health and quality of life.
At CBJA, environmental justice means ensuring that every community, especially those disproportionately impacted by pollution and environmental burdens, has access to information, training, and opportunities to make its voice heard. Through binational collaboration, education, and community engagement, we are building partnerships that support community-led efforts to address environmental concerns and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable border region.
Thank you to the residents, community leaders, and partner organizations who continue working together to protect our shared environment and strengthen environmental justice throughout the border region.
The Coalición Binacional de Justicia Ambiental (CBJA) hosted a free, hands-on air-quality monitoring workshop on Saturday, May 30, at the Centro de Investigación e Innovación en Diseño y Tecnología (CiIDT) at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) in Mexicali.
