Today we had our Annual Back to School Giveaway at Brawley Feed the Need!
We were able to bless 40 children this year!
With the help of a grant that came in BFTN was able to allocate some money to go toward my favorite event of the year! And so we purchased new JanSport Backpacks for 40 children.
Every year turns out different than the last. This year we did not open up registry, instead we carefully selected families we knew that really could use this help this year.
For some reason Amazon messed up our order twice for the backpacks so we ended up calling Rainbow Sport who really saved us from having to postpone the event. We are very thankful for their prompt support and willingness to give us a great deal on the backpacks!
We want to give a Big Thank You to Sacred Heart/Saint Margaret Mary’s Churches for the wonderful, school supplies bags that were made with the essentials needed for each age group.
We are also so very thankful for our long time friends and supporters at First Presbyterian Church who purchased all of the socks and underwear so each child could have a weeks worth of undergarments!
We also thank Christ Community Church in Brawley, Pastor Sean for his speedy “YES” in sponsoring this event, which we used for the hygiene kits!
And thank you to my beautiful friend Raquel Valdez for purchasing toothbrushes and toothpaste for all of the children.
We also would like to thank Valle de Libros Book Club who have gone over and beyond for the past 3 years to purchase all items including clothing for 3 children once again!
