BOOK GROUPS in St. Pete and Tampa and ZOOM. Hello, I have just published the book - "Jake and the Hobo: My Summer of Love," and I would be happy to do an author's TALK about this book. I can talk about the book and the process of creating this over the past 8 years.

Plus all the damn rust in my French brain! AIRPLANE MILK

I said, “Je voudrais un cappuccino au lait d’avoine” Cappuchino with oat milk. and she thought I said “au lait d’avion”… airplane milk.

We both laughed!

Never stop trying or intimidated by speaking another language
Actually, people here are patient and appreciate it when you speak french. My French is passable, but rusty. It requires patience. And the willingness to say "Je Ne Comprends pas. Repeter s'el vous plait"

the door is open,
because there is no door

our home destroyed
and there is no place
to sit
to mourn our dead

the mirrors destroyed,
we hold Shiva
in the space

where our house
once was

who mourns for us?
Not our Muslim cousins,
in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,
or UAE.

Not the Americans,
who bring more bombs
to destroy even the
rubble of our homes

with twenty-thousand dead,
men, women, and children

who will sit for Shiva?

who will bring the food?
who will grieve with us?

who will light the
memorial candle?
