Hummingbirds are back in full swing in Vermont!

As we enjoy the return of this tiny, squeaky, and dangerously cute migratory bird, a quick refresher for keeping them safe and happy:

⏰ Change nectar every 2 days in hot weather (75°F+), and every 3–4 days when cooler—spoiled nectar can be fatal for hummingbirds.

🌺 For your nectar, mix 1 part plain, refined white sugar to 4 parts water. That’s the closest match to natural flower nectar. Skip the red dye and pre-made colored mixes—they aren’t safe or needed!

If you haven’t yet witnessed the grace of the hummingbird this season, come to BEEC and catch them zipping along the trails!
