Bratt First Friday & Gallery Walk was ⚡️ELECTRIC⚡️last night. Go Bratt Go!

These events are so much more than a party, though they’re a heck of a party too. At the core, they are a love letter to Brattleboro. A flashy container that reminds us that the people and places here are nothing short of extraordinary. The talent and passion in this community of artists is unparalleled, and its shines so bright at each event.

Till next month! A reminder- Bratt First Fridays is the block party with Maker’s Market, Live Music, Lawson’s Outdoor Beer Garden, Food Trucks, Local Org Tablers and PopUp Performers galore. It’s the street closure and the party that happens there. Bratt First Fridays run May-October.

Gallery Walk is the time honored tradition of gallery stroll in 15 walkable downtown galleries who stay open late, often have artist meet & greets, live music, refreshments. Gallery Walk runs May-Dec, on first Fridays of the month.

So next month, October 3, will be the last Bratt First Friday. But Gallery Walk will continue on in November and December. Next month the events coincide with SuckaPunch Graffiti Jam on Arch Street, so this will be BIG. It promises to be a knock-down all-out showstopper, and YOU are invited!

Brattleboro Vermont is -THE PLACE- to see live music.

Our campus of performance venues are bustling incubators of emerging artists. They’re hotbeds of social connection and synergy. These spaces are absolute powerhouses of economic activity driving locals and visitors to our restaurants, shops, and hotels. Here’s the thing: Brattleboro doesn’t have a music scene. It has a music ecosystem, a town of 13,000 people running more stages than towns ten times our size. The Latchis. Stone Church. Midnights. The Vermont Jazz Center. Epsilon Spires. Marigold. Brattleboro Music Center. Retreat Farm. The Heart Rose Club. Tower Bar & Lounge. Rooms for jazz, punk, folk, hip-hop, noise, everything in between. Several are a ten-minute walk of each other. All of them are independently run and operated by locals whose blood, sweat and tears built them from the ground up.

And right now, it’s not just holding steady. It’s growing, and gathering momentum. Stone Church brought thousands of people to Brattleboro last year for more than 140 shows. Brattleboro is in the middle of a genuine moment. But no music venue survives on nostalgia- they survive and thrive when people show up:

☑️Buy the ticket.
☑️Go to the show
☑️Buy the merch
☑️Tell your friends
☑️Share the post

Our music scene is one of our greatest strengths. We need to leverage it. Support it. Talk about it. Show up for it.

Brattleboro is a music town. And it’s just getting started.

The Downtown Brattleboro Alliance (DBA), in partnership with the Town of Brattleboro, is launching Vacant to Vibrant Brattleboro, a new pilot program designed to transform vacant and underutilized downtown storefronts into places of creativity, commerce, connection, and opportunity.

The five-month program, running from September through January, will connect downtown property owners with local artists, entrepreneurs, retailers, makers, service-based businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations interested in testing ideas in a physical downtown space.

With a $20,000 pilot investment, Vacant to Vibrant will offer several levels of support, ranging from temporary art and window installations to retail pop-ups and more substantial service-based or experiential business activations.

3 Ways to go Vibrant:
Window to Vibrant will support artists and creative projects that bring vacant storefront windows to life through temporary exhibitions, installations, photography, murals, community storytelling, and other visual displays.

Pop-Up Vibrant will support retail and maker pop-ups, giving entrepreneurs and existing businesses an opportunity to test a brick-and-mortar concept with a lower level of risk.

Vibrant Business Lab will support more substantial temporary activations, including service-based businesses, creative studios, workshops, wellness concepts, educational programs, and other experiential uses.

Participating property owners will be asked to make their spaces available at no or substantially reduced rent during the activation period. DBA and the Town will provide coordination, marketing, technical assistance, and help navigating municipal requirements.

More information about the program, including application details and participating properties, will be available through the Downtown Brattleboro Alliance website: https://www.brattleboro.com/downtown/vacant-to-vibrant/

The best parts of Southern Vermont can’t really be described, you just have to experience them for yourself. Why? Because they’re spontaneous! They’re often juuust below the radar. Impromptu evidence of the strong currents of inspiration that flow through here on the regular. Flotilla on the West River, of course!

Book Lovers >> Flat Street
This book store is nestled in Alley Lane, a small alcove between the Brattleboro Transportation Center (parking garage) and the DeWitt Building on Flat Street. It’s one of those iykyk kinda things. And at its heart? Book Lovers is a heart-led space for people who adore used books- bibliophiles with a penchant for flipping those aged pages with the utmost appreciation. Stop by and say hello to owner/shopkeep Ian. You’ll often find him outside tidying the space- it’s the care for things inside and out for us.
