🐝🪵 DIY Carpentry: Build A Bee Hotel 🪵🐝

Join us at HatchSpace in downtown Brattleboro for a hands-on carpentry class where you'll build a beautiful, functional bee hotel from scratch. Over the course of the class, you'll get comfortable with saws, drills, and hand tools while learning how to measure, cut, and assemble a sturdy outdoor structure. You'll walk away with a finished wooden bee hotel, complete with a slanted, rain-shedding roof, ready to support wild and native bees in your backyard.

✨ Weekend Schedule:
📅 Saturday, May 2 | 10am–5pm | Woodworking Class
📅 Sunday, May 3 | 10am–12pm | Optional Foraging Session at Brattleboro Retreat Farm

Sunday's optional walk is something special - your instructor will guide you through responsibly gathering natural and invasive plant materials to use as nesting material inside your bee hotel. Equal parts ecology lesson and local adventure. 🌿

🪚 Hand Tools Bootcamp 🪚

No electricity. No shortcuts. Just you, your tools, and the satisfaction of making something beautiful entirely by hand.

Join us for a 3-day intensive where you'll learn to tune and use a full range of woodworking hand tools — planes, chisels, saws, marking gauges, and more — and walk away with a stunning cutting board crafted from local rough-sawn hardwood.

Whether you're picking up a hand plane for the first time or you're a seasoned woodworker ready to sharpen your skills (literally), this class is for you. All experience levels welcome, ages 18+.

Co-hosted by & HatchSpace, our BIPOC Maker Workshops are a space for anyone who self-identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color to build community through woodworking — and this one is for the whole family!

Come spend the morning with your young one making a crankie box — a fun, kinetic, scroll-based storytelling toy you build yourself. This workshop is beginner-friendly and designed to be inclusive and supportive for all.

A 7-week, full-time woodworking intensive at HatchSpace

This hands-on program is designed for people serious about cabinetmaking and woodworking careers. Learn core shop skills, cabinet design, material sourcing, CAD & CNC basics, and leave with the ability to design and build custom kitchens, vanities, closets, and built-ins.
