Tim Hadler, along with local veterans are working on a project called GUMI CAMP USA, which is a healing home for veterans. At GUMI CAMP, they are focused on providing our veterans with tools to re-enter society and heal after deployment. It is a 258-acre piece of property in southeast east Taney County, Missouri. Veterans may reside without cost to them and heal at their own pace. GUMI CAMP, at f

ull capacity, will house approximately 30 veterans on a working ranch. A blacksmith shop is currently in the works as well as having horses on the property. The grand opening was Memorial Day Weekend 2015. For a map go here ... http://bit.ly/2hqnL3T

From Virginia Cruse, PTSD Recovery:

"It’s Veterans Day, and all weekend, our Facebook feeds have been full of pictures and tributes to those we’ve lost to combat and to su***de. And it is hard. I’m not here to force-feed you some rah-rah message about how life can change; I’m here to stand with you - because this weekend consistently sucks every single year and we need each other right now.

Please do your buddy checks this weekend, and nag the s**t out of the people you love. Make sure they are okay! Having people who care for us and believe in us can make all the difference in our ability to cope with and recover from difficult events.

I’ve never met a combat Vet who lost more buddies to war than they did to su***de, and that’s not okay. Rather than doing 22 push-ups, I encourage you to pick up the phone and call someone to check in."

PLEASE reach out to someone you know who has served! Let them know they are surrounded by community and get to know them. If you have questions on how to reach out or are a veteran or current service member with some questions, contact GUMI and we would love to support you!

What a great day for a flag retirement ceremony! The rain let up just in time. Thank you to Daughters of the American Revolution local chapter and Major Wagner along with the Marine Corps JROTC from Forsyth High School! It was a special day.

Also, some have been wondering...we have rescheduled our GUMI Fest activities to Sat, 6/28. More to come...
