Jerry has been an advocate for the Rendille people, and for GCI since the beginning. This summer, he was able to go back to northern Kenya after over a decade of time away and shared a few words from the trip!

After our most recent trip, we were amazed by how many U.S. partners donated supplies for the Rendille communities we serve β€” school supplies, medicine, hygiene products, and more. We're careful not to let outside supplies become something communities rely on, but when the need is real, they save our community workers real time and effort so that they can pour back into those around them.

Our work is stronger because of the generosity of friends back home. πŸ€πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ

Some of our best work doesn't look like work at all β€” it looks like a game of dodgeball or soccer drawing half the schoolyard. On our most recent trip, we got to bring games to local schools using supplies sent by friends back in the U.S., and it's safe to say they were an instant hit. If you gave toward this trip, this is part of what your generosity made possible. Building real relationships, one smile at a time!

There's often more to the story than what fits in a single post. That's why we're launching a newsletter to share all the ways God is moving through the work of GCI, as well as our partners and patrons who make our work possible. πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ And just like that, our in northern Kenya has come to a close.

On our last day, the team split up to take part in worship at several churches in the area. We also finished up a few projects β€” teaching different planting methods in Bagasi, delivering medications to those who couldn't make it to the clinics, and more.

And of course, saying our goodbyes to the friends we made along the way. Pray that the projects completed and the relationships built continue to thrive for years to come!

The team is now headed back toward Nairobi. Continue to pray for travel safety over the next few days!

The last few days have been full! Here are a few of the things we’ve been up to:

- Garden irrigation run from our Bagasi well project to the adjacent garden! This will supply the village with a variety of vegetables, trees, melons, and more! (Community members say they are now thriving from the consistent and reliable source of clean water)

- Continued Medical and Veterinary clinic work (150+ patients seen in Bagasi, as well as hundreds of animals)

- Distributed reusable sanitary hygiene products sewn by our friends back in the States

Just to name a few! As we approach the end of our time in the community, pray for continued favor in all of our remaining endeavors! As always, stay tuned for more! πŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ

Photos from our first full day in Kurkum. πŸ“Έ Today, we:

Spent time with teachers and students from the local school, and got to know each other with some fun activities!
Prepped medical supplies and space for tomorrow's clinic.
Served 200+ children a hot meal through the porridge program.
Hosted a class to empower the women to make homemade soap with ingredients they already have on hand.

Just to name a few! Stay tuned for more updates throughout the week!

After another 9 hours on the road, we made it to our final destination Tuesday evening! This team has been awesome. Even though worn out from 3+ days of travel, they dug deep to sort and prepare over 20 bags of supplies for the next 5 days! Bodies and brains are super tired, but hearts are ready to serve! And a big shout out to our Kenya team for all they have done to prepare! Broadmoor Missions

We're heading out soon β€” and we don't want to go without your prayers!

On our upcoming trip, the team will be in Kurkum, Bagasi and Kargi, working alongside Rendille communities on projects that we hope will keep serving long after we leave: clean water, food security, health, and opportunity.

Here are a few things we'll be working on in our time away!

We'll be sharing more about each project over the coming days. Follow along, and pray with us as the work unfolds. πŸ™πŸ½
