The overarching vision of Southern Sophistication (SS) is to aid people, businesses, and communities with the tools needed to improve their current situation. SS will be a central resource where individuals will be able to come and locate organizations, and or individuals needed to accomplish their business and financial goals. This system will be implemented to mentor our children’s children to s
uccess. In addition to supporting small businesses, SS will become involved in the community by providing children and adolescents skills vital to their future success. These skills will include but are not limited to: money management, hygiene, building social skills, positive communication, and job skills. The first objective of SS is to start the “What’s Up Wednesday’s” project. “What’s Up Wednesday’s” is a monthly meeting where local professionals meet to network and share ideas. Non-profit organizations pertaining to business will have an opportunity to set up booths at the events for free. For profit organizations will have an opportunity to rent booth space as well as raffle for advertising spots throughout the program. Professionals will be on hand in the fields of Finance, Politics, Law, and Non-Profit/Grant Writing to answer questions in their respective fields. Business minded individuals such as owners and managers will be recruited as mentors to better aid in helping patrons of WUW. The ultimate goal of Southern Sophistication’s “What’s Up Wednesday’s” project is to increase revenue in the state of Mississippi by equipping up-and-coming businesses with the knowledge and resources to grow their company and improve the overall stability of the state of Mississippi.
