Mallory Pickering and MCAHT Board President Lindsey Simmons attended a luncheon for mission partners of Pinelake Church at the Jackson Leadership Foundation yesterday. Pinelake has been a strong supporter of MCAHT's work throughout the years, and we are grateful they continue to invest in our mission to make Mississippi an unhospitable place for the crime of human trafficking and to promote victim safety and restoration.

This is so hopeful! We are grateful to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi, Attorney General Lynn Fitch and her team, and local, state, and federal law enforcement (especially the Starkville Police Department) who made this extradition possible. We love to see those who sexually exploit Mississippi kids held accountable!

On Sunday, August 16, Mallory Pickering spoke to the United Methodist Men's group at Hawkins United Methodist Church in Vicksburg. She educated them on what human trafficking looks like in Mississippi and how MCAHT is working to oppose this injustice and help survivors heal. This group has supported MCAHT in the past, and we are grateful for their dedication to learning more about this issue and becoming a part of the solution. Hawkins UMC

Today we shine a spotlight on Retirement Income Planning, LLC: a major supporter of MCAHT’s work, as evidenced by their sponsorship of the MCAHT Golf Classic the past two years.

Retirement Income Planning’s Jonathan Grantham and Mark Baldwin learned about human trafficking through the Fondren Church community, and Jonathan expanded his knowledge through a trip to Cambodia to work alongside an anti-trafficking organization. Mark says the phrase “human trafficking” speaks to the horror of what it is: “atrocities against humans” and “works of evil.” As for the team at Retirement Income Planning, they want to be involved in “justice-seeking work” that promotes the kingdom of God. MCAHT is grateful for their partnership as we seek to make Mississippi an unhospitable place for the crime of human trafficking.

Contrary to popular belief, human trafficking does not require movement across a border, across a state line, or even across the street. Human trafficking is a crime of exploitation that can happen in our hometowns and even in our homes.
