Troop 79 Brandon Florida Building leaders through outdoor adventure, service, and skills! 🌟 Troop 79 is shaping tomorrow’s citizens.

Troop 79 is part of the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council and the Timucua District located in Hillsborough County Florida. We are blessed to have Immanuel Lutheran Church as our charter organization. Throughout the history of Troop 79, Immanuel Lutheran has been a generous partner with us in Scouting as we help boys grow into young men. We are a youth-led Scout troop serving Brandon, FL. We focus on leadership, adventure, and community service.

🏕️ Troop 79 Springs Campout Recap! 🌴💦

Troop 79 traded the usual campsite for some Florida spring water during our campout at Kelly Park/Rock Springs!

Our Scouts spent the weekend camping, cooking, working together, and enjoying one of Florida’s most unique outdoor experiences. Between time around camp and exploring the beautiful spring, there were plenty of opportunities for Scouts to practice the teamwork, independence, and outdoor skills that make a weekend in the woods worthwhile.

Of course, the highlight was getting into the crystal-clear water at Rock Springs! Nothing beats a Florida campout where cooling off is part of the adventure.

A big thank you to our adult leaders and volunteers who gave their time to make another Troop 79 campout possible—and to our Scouts for making it a great weekend!

🐶 Happy National Dog Day from Troop 79! 🐾

Today is the perfect day to celebrate our four-legged family members—and a great time to highlight the Dog Care Merit Badge! ⚜️

Scouts working on Dog Care learn that owning a dog is about much more than playing fetch. The merit badge covers responsible pet ownership, including:

🐕 Proper feeding and nutrition
🦴 Grooming and everyday care
🏥 Canine health and first aid
🎓 Training and obedience
🏡 Responsible dog ownership and safety
❤️ The commitment it takes to care for a dog

Already have a dog at home? National Dog Day might be the perfect excuse to spend some extra time with your pup—and maybe start working toward another merit badge!

Sometimes to beat the heat, the PLC will bring the adventure indoors! Troop 79 took sometime this month to do a little bowling. Thanks to Pin Chasers for working with the scouts to have a great experience. We got a little exercise, cheered each other on, and just took it easy. A great summer activity in the books!

Troop 79 recently held our Summer Court of Honor.

A Court of Honor is an opportunity to recognize the hard work, dedication, and growth of our Scouts over the past several months. From rank advancements and merit badges to leadership positions and special recognitions, each achievement represents countless hours of learning, service, and perseverance.

We are especially proud to announce that Troop 79 was recognized as an Honor Troop and received the Scouting Traditions Award at summer camp. These honors reflect the commitment of our Scouts and leaders to teamwork, Scout spirit, and carrying on the traditions that make Scouting such a meaningful experience.

Congratulations to every Scout who was recognized this evening. Your accomplishments are something to be proud of, and we look forward to seeing what you'll achieve next.

A heartfelt thank you to our Scoutmasters, committee members, volunteers, and families for the encouragement and support you provide throughout the year. Scouting is truly a team effort, and nights like tonight remind us how strong the Troop 79 family is.

This Independence Day is especially meaningful as our nation begins celebrating the Semiquincentennial—America's 250th birthday. For two and a half centuries, the ideals of liberty, service, and citizenship have united generations of Americans.

As Scouts, we are proud to honor those values through community service, leadership, outdoor adventure, and a commitment to the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We remember the sacrifices made by those who secured our freedom and by the countless men and women who have defended it ever since.

Whether you're spending the day with family, attending a parade, enjoying a barbecue, or watching fireworks, we hope you'll also take a moment to reflect on what it means to be an active and engaged citizen.

From all of us at Troop 79, we wish you a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day.

🏕️ Troop 79 Summer Camp 2026 Recap – Camp Woodruff

What an incredible week at Woodruff Scout Camp! Our Scouts spent the week challenging themselves, learning new skills, making new friends, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

From earning merit badges and sharpening outdoor skills to climbing, shooting sports, waterfront activities, campfires, and everything in between, every Scout found opportunities to grow in confidence and leadership. Camp Woodruff delivered an unforgettable week of adventure in the North Georgia mountains, and we're proud of everything our Scouts accomplished.

The scouts learned a meaningful summer camp takes teamwork, resilience, and living the Scout Oath and Law every day. We watched our older Scouts mentor younger ones, patrols work together to overcome challenges, and everyone step outside their comfort zones.

A huge thank you to our dedicated adult leaders, volunteers, and parents who made this trip possible. Your time, support, and commitment help create experiences our Scouts will remember for years to come.

Scouting is built on friendship, teamwork, leadership, and shared experiences — and sometimes those experiences are even better with a box of donuts nearby.

Today is World Environment Day — a reminder that even small actions can make a big difference in protecting the outdoors for future generations.

Scouting encourages youth to become good stewards of the environment through conservation projects, Leave No Trace principles, outdoor education, and service to the community. Whether cleaning trails, protecting wildlife habitats, reducing waste, or simply respecting nature while camping and hiking, Scouts learn that caring for the environment is part of being a responsible citizen.

The outdoors gives us adventure, challenge, and unforgettable memories. It is up to all of us to help preserve it.

Today is World Bicycle Day — a celebration of one of the most influential and accessible forms of transportation in history.

Since the late 1800s, bicycles have provided people with freedom, mobility, recreation, and adventure. They have helped connect communities, encouraged exploration, and promoted healthy lifestyles for generations.

In Scouting, bicycles continue to play an important role in outdoor adventure and skill development. Scouts learn bike safety, preparedness, trail etiquette, maintenance, and responsibility while building confidence and enjoying the outdoors.

Whether riding for fun, exercise, transportation, or adventure, remember to ride safely, wear a helmet, and enjoy the journey.

Adventure is often just one bike ride away.
