We spent Tuesday morning harvesting and working in the garden while enjoying a light, refreshing rain and perfect temperatures. Our harvest included peppers, eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, beans, okra, and several varieties of tomatoes.

The recent rainy weather has fueled tremendous growth, and we were pleasantly surprised by how much was ready to harvest. Days like this remind us that gardens don't just grow in the sunshine.

Garden news for this week: over 400 lbs of fresh produce was harvested and delivered to 4 organizations who serve our neighbors in need!
None of this would be possible without the help of volunteers of all ages and skill levels who keep showing up! If you want to get involved, please contact us anytime. There are many ways to help besides weeding in the garden , such as greeters at the check-in table, weighers and packers of produce, cleaners of tools and gloves, and delivery services.

Another busy, beautiful day at Rosie’s Garden!

On Thursday, Natalie from Saving Grace - Mississippi stopped by to pick up freshly picked fruit and veggies from the garden, along with a generous donation from Salad Days Produce. We’re so grateful for community partners who help us share healthy food with others.

Nita, Clayton, and Lanny volunteered their time to harvest blueberries and green beans. Nita also gathered gladiolus blooms that had begun to fall over to create cheerful arrangements for the nursing homes she visits. We love seeing every part of the garden used to brighten someone’s day.

And a special shoutout to Noah Flynn, who just completed his second week of daily chores at Rosie’s Garden and still loves coming every morning! His dedication and enthusiasm have been such a joy to see.

And one more exciting update…the corn will be ready soon! 🌽

This week, Rosie’s Garden delivered another beautiful harvest to Sacred Heart Mission in Camden for use in their Family Life Center, which provides daily meals for 60 senior citizens in the community. On Wednesday, we donated fresh strawberries, blueberries, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, eggs, and dried herbs grown right here in our garden.

A special thank you to Mr. Larry for delivering this week’s donation. We are also excited to share that Madison County Master Gardener Kenya Rachal has generously volunteered to help care for the raised garden beds we recently installed through Rosie’s on the Road. Kenya and her daughter met with staff this week, worked in the garden beds, and will continue consulting with the team as they grow fresh food for their community.

The smoker is smoking , the birds are singing , the bees are buzzing , the breeze is blowing! What a perfect setting to feed our volunteers and supporters who have fed so many others over the years! No work today , just a time to enjoy the fruits of your labor and take some herbs, seeds, blueberries and a full belly home with you! Lots of seating in the shade and space for kids and grandkids to play! A side dish to share is welcome!!🫐🧑‍🌾👍🥒🍓💚
