Love Winks
“When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan. When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower. When parents lose their child, there isn’t a word to describe them.” Ronald Reagan
We just want to take a moment to share our hearts… and keep Van and Hank’s memory alive and so very real. The way these boys have impacted not only mine and Chelseys (and our families) lives, but also those around us just blows us away. Our boys were made with purpose and for a purpose. I’ve told Chelsey before that... “This group isn’t a group I would’ve gladly raised my hand to sign up for... because let’s be honest... no parent wants to have to give their baby back” but I always follow up with... “But THIS is what God had planned for us... and for our boys and we are here to honor them continually and fulfill God’s purpose for our lives”
Let me just add in here (because I’m wordy and those of you who know me stop laughing because you know I’ll get to the point eventually) that God knew I needed Chelsey. And let me step back and say this... I would NEVER wish this on anyone ever because it truly is a pain like no other. However, God knew my heart… and here we are... 2 years and a few months later... and I have Chelsey. Thankful is a word I don’t use lightly... and it’s a word that is very fitting when it comes to how I feel about Chelsey... Thankful. She is a friend, a sister, and a mama that God knew I needed. I could go on and on about her... and her strength... and her heart but I would be writing for days! Basically... I love the girl. She’s a piece I needed and I’m so thankful to walk through this life with her by my side.
So... here we are. Chelsey’s first Christmas without Van... and my third Christmas without Hank... and let me say... it does not get easier. Christmas is my FAVORITE time of the year... I want to have parties and give gifts and make people smile and there has just been something missing every year since losing Hank... and that’s him. I miss him. I know Chelsey misses Van. Its normal to miss them I know... but since Hank I have had a tug (ask my friends... I’ve talked with several about it I just never knew WHAT I wanted to do and honestly I didn’t know where to start) -Insert my beautiful friend Chelsey- When I say 2 people were supposed to meet in life and have a huge purpose together.. that is me and this girl!!
So... now that you have all of Emily’s rambling to give a little small piece of this story (which once we get our page and website going we will post both of our individual stories so you know all about us) let me tell you about Love Winks. Hanks Heroes and Vans Victors are doing a collide... and that’s Love Winks. Love winks is here to help. We are going to be here to help Mama’s, families, parents, children… really anyone who needs it. The main purpose of Love Winks is to let others know we care and that we are always here. To kick off Love Winks we are going to do a toy drive for Methodist Children’s Home... and yes we are last minute... but that doesn’t mean this cant be equally as amazing with the help of our community, our friends and our families! We want Love Winks to be AMAZING! There is SO MUCH MORE to come from it! 2021 better get ready because we have a lot of ideas... and if you know me and Chelsey AT ALL… you know we have ideas and our heads are spinning!!!
So to kick this off… Sunday Dec 13 from 12:00 – 3:00 we will be doing a toy drive… and only fitting for 2020 for it to be Drive by style! We will be located at Arbor Landing Clubhouse outside in the parking lot! We will be giving away a Photo Session with Watson Photography that day for anyone who comes by and drops off a toy!! We will have candy canes to give to all the littles and it will be mine and Chelsey’s families greeting you to get the toys! WHAT A WAY to Honor our babies than to give to children that need! A few suggestions that were made were toys, books, journals and games... they have children from ages birth to 20 in their programs so she said they would be happy with any of the above items!! We must deliver items by December 14 to make it in time for Christmas!! Thank yall SO MUCH for loving our families and our boys, Van and Hank! We are just a couple of Mama’s wanting to make our boys proud! We love all of you so much and thank you for supporting what we hope will be AMAZING and please pray for us as we build Love Winks into something that can help everyone.
Thank you for your Support and Love!!
