A major healthcare announcement was made in Rankin County this afternoon following a press conference hosted by the Rankin County Board of Supervisors and Rankin First.

Leaders announced a $70 million investment for the Merit Health Rankin hospital campus just off Brandon’s Main Street, as Baptist Health Systems takes over the lease of the facility, marking a significant step forward for healthcare in Brandon, Miss. and Central Mississippi.

Officials also shared that approximately 175 employees will either remain in place or be offered positions through the transition, helping ensure continuity of care and stability for local families.

This investment reflects continued confidence in Rankin County’s growth, workforce, and future as one of Mississippi’s leading communities for business, healthcare, and quality of life.
