Bringing Health and Hope Home: POCF Hosts Cancer Awareness Workshop at Bethel Union
REEVESVILLE, SC — Saturday, August 29, 2026 — The Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) brought cancer education, awareness, and hope to the Bethel Union gathering at Jericho Baptist Church in Reevesville, South Carolina, with its first Cancer Awareness Workshop.
Guided by POCF's message, “Knowledge Today. A Healthier Tomorrow,” the 15-minute workshop focused on making important cancer information understandable, practical, and accessible to the community.
Rather than simply presenting information, the workshop encouraged attendees to listen, ask questions, take notes, and engage in conversation about protecting their health and supporting others.
The session focused on several important areas:
• Why early detection saves lives
• Practical ways to reduce cancer risk through healthy lifestyle choices
• Common cancers and recommended screenings that support early detection
• Community resources available to help individuals and families stay informed and supported
An important extension of the workshop was the POCF Cancer Awareness Workshop Companion Guide. Designed to remain with attendees after the workshop, the guide provides information they can review, share, and use to continue conversations about cancer awareness, early detection, and healthy choices with family members, friends, neighbors, and others in their communities.
The workshop also created an opportunity for shared learning. Questions and personal experiences from those attending helped reinforce an important part of POCF's approach: community members can learn from one another while gaining information that can positively influence their overall wellbeing.
Although the gathering was brief, the message was clear: cancer awareness does not have to end when a workshop ends. When people take what they learn and share it with someone else, the reach of that education continues.
The workshop reflected POCF's community-centered commitment to education, awareness, early detection, and support—and its belief that Each One—Help One!
Early Detection Saves Lives.
