Bringing Health and Hope Home: POCF Hosts Cancer Awareness Workshop at Bethel Union
REEVESVILLE, SC — Saturday, August 29, 2026 — The Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) brought cancer education, awareness, and hope to the Bethel Union gathering at Jericho Baptist Church in Reevesville, South Carolina, with its first Cancer Awareness Workshop.
Guided by POCF's message, “Knowledge Today. A Healthier Tomorrow,” the 15-minute workshop focused on making important cancer information understandable, practical, and accessible to the community.
Rather than simply presenting information, the workshop encouraged attendees to listen, ask questions, take notes, and engage in conversation about protecting their health and supporting others.
The session focused on several important areas:
• Why early detection saves lives
• Practical ways to reduce cancer risk through healthy lifestyle choices
• Common cancers and recommended screenings that support early detection
• Community resources available to help individuals and families stay informed and supported
An important extension of the workshop was the POCF Cancer Awareness Workshop Companion Guide. Designed to remain with attendees after the workshop, the guide provides information they can review, share, and use to continue conversations about cancer awareness, early detection, and healthy choices with family members, friends, neighbors, and others in their communities.
The workshop also created an opportunity for shared learning. Questions and personal experiences from those attending helped reinforce an important part of POCF's approach: community members can learn from one another while gaining information that can positively influence their overall wellbeing.
Although the gathering was brief, the message was clear: cancer awareness does not have to end when a workshop ends. When people take what they learn and share it with someone else, the reach of that education continues.
The workshop reflected POCF's community-centered commitment to education, awareness, early detection, and support—and its belief that Each One—Help One!
Early Detection Saves Lives.

As June Men’s Health Month comes to a close, let’s keep the momentum going.
The truth is, men’s health issues don’t operate on a calendar schedule—they are a year-round priority. Let’s commit to making health a daily habit, not just a seasonal one.
Here is what we’re focusing on for the long haul:
Preventative Care as Routine: Don't wait until something is wrong to see a doctor. Schedule those blood pressure, cholesterol, and prostate screenings now. Consistency is key!
Longevity & Lifestyle: Sustainable habits (nutrition, sleep, and movement) beat "short-term health kicks" every time.
Health isn’t a destination or a specific month; it’s a daily practice of listening to your body and mind. Let’s leave the idea that we only see a doctor when we're sick in the past. Here's to making health a continuous, lifelong priority.

✨ Your Journey Inspires. Your Victory Empowers. ✨

Every scar tells a story.
Every survivor represents hope.
Every caregiver reflects love.
Every life touched by cancer reminds us why we must continue the fight.

Join the Praise Out Cancer Foundation for our 2026 Look Good – Feel Good Charity Fashion Show & Luncheon on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Lovely Hill Baptist Association Conference Center in St. George, SC.

This is more than a fashion show. It is a celebration of courage, faith, resilience, and victory. Our models are cancer survivors, individuals currently undergoing treatment, and those honoring loved ones whose lives have been impacted by cancer. As they walk the runway, they remind us that cancer may change a life, but it does not define it.

Come be inspired by their stories, encouraged by their strength, and united in our mission to support individuals and families facing cancer.

🎟️ Tickets: $20 (includes luncheon and giveaways)

Together, we can raise awareness, inspire hope, and remind those affected by cancer that they are never alone.

With support from Michael Akins Sr., South Carolina Cancer Alliance, Family Health Centers, and so many incredible performers, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers—this day made an impact.
And we’re just getting started.
