If you weren’t there… you missed something powerful.
The Praise Out Cancer Foundation’s “On the Move For a Cure” Cancer Walk brought 175 people together at Vance Community Park for a day filled with hope, praise, and purpose.
From the debut of “Pink Ribbon” by Thurman Phillip, Jr. … to powerful words from Alfred Charley … to Travion Robinson’s moving cancer testimony and song… this was more than a walk—it was a movement.
With support from Michael Akins Sr., South Carolina Cancer Alliance, Family Health Centers, and so many incredible performers, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers—this day made an impact.
And we’re just getting started.

A new study by the American Cancer Society has shed light on an alarming reality – colorectal cancer is a rising threat for people under 50. The study shows colorectal cancer death rates for people under 50 are now outpacing death rates for breast, lung, and brain cancers, and leukemia.
The good news? Lives can be saved through raising awareness, having healthy lifestyle habits, getting screened, and funding critical research.

Roper St. Francis Mobile Health has launched a new community initiative called Barbershop Talks to engage men in candid discussions about their health—particularly prostate cancer awareness and screening—by meeting them in familiar spaces like local barbershops. The first event was held at Designer Cuts Barbering Palace in Goose Creek, featuring speakers like Alfred Charley of the Praise Out Cancer Foundation, who emphasized the life-saving importance of early detection.
Faith leaders and community figures, including Pastor Jonathan Briggs and Councilman Steve Christopher Davis, highlighted the role of spiritual guidance and local leadership in promoting health education. The relaxed setting encouraged open dialogue, while attendees were also invited to register for free prostate screenings on Sept. 6 at 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Cost:$0:00 at Roper St. Francis Mobile Health, 730 Stoney Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC.
With more events planned, Barbershop Talks is part of Roper St. Francis’s broader effort to make preventive care more accessible and build trust in communities across the Lowcountry.
