UPDATE: SATURDAY OCTOBER 17TH, BETWEEN 12 AND 2PM RAY WILL BE THERE TO TALK WITH ANYBODY WHO STOPS IN. PLEASE COME AND GET INFORMED. Ray Dereske is wanting to hold an open forum meeting at the Ruby Creek Conservation Club. It is about the projected Power Lines that may be coming through Ruby Creek. Maybe some of you haven't heard but https://www.mifuturegrid.com/copperton-projects is wanting to put up power lines through our area. Nothing is set in stone as to what route they may take, but one of the projected lines will come right through RUBY CREEK. There is an interactive map on their web site and you can follow their projected routes. Please let us know if you can and want to attend this meeting at the club. Ray is thinking of a POWER LINE MEETING at the club Friday or Saturday, but we need some feedback if there is any interest when people might want to come. So, if you are Interested, please give us some feedback on a day which would be best for you and Ray will set a day. This is a Emanate Domaine type project and everyone not just those close to the route should be aware of. This will affect the South Branch of the Pere Marquette River along with members of our community. Our voices must be heard, and Ray will give information of how we can voice our opinions.

In December 2024, the MISO Board of Directors unanimously approved LRTP Tranche 2.1, the largest portfolio of transmission projects in our nation’s history.

The Chili-Cook-Off was a great start to the Fall season. 9 very different chilis were entered. And all were very yummy. A nice gathering of people and nice conversations were had. Desserts were good and helped cool the tummies from all the chilis. We want to Thank everyone who entered the Chili-Cook-Off and everyone who volunteered with setting up the club, cleaning and getting it ready for the event. THANK YOU. As for winners, Glen Sawdy won third place, Janet DeYoung took second and first-time enterer Diana Gray (not Ott) took first. Congratulations to them. Diana, I'm sorry I am not spelling your name properly. I am working on it.

Our next meeting is Oct 10th at 4pm. Our CHILI COOK-OFF is right after the meeting at 5 pm. Prizes are $25.00 for 3rd place, $50.00 for second place and $100.00 for first place. Entry fee is $5.00 thats for coming, eating and judging.
Get those recipes ready. A few people will say white chili is not really chili, but we don't discriminate we like all chilis. See you all there.

Congratulations to Bill Howard for winning the 50/50 raffle $402.00. And Thanks for donating it back to the club for a lifetime membership. Our meeting was small, 12 in attendance. Even with the potluck. We are really hurting for working members, we have the same few doing everything from maintenance to events, and I will admit it is getting to us. The few doing these things are 65 plus in age and it's hard on us. We would like to hold events, parties, dinners, picnics etc. But it is just hard on us. We had elections, President, Treasurer, Secretary and 3 board members up for election. Needless to say, we still have the same people in these seats. We don't mind doing it, but we need help. Please come to the next meeting and see what you can do to help us out. Our CHILI-COOK-OFF is coming up. That's always a fun day. I will post the date for that later. I am not sure exactly what day it is in Oct. but will post it when I get a date. We had a few discussions on the https://www.mifuturegrid.com/copperton-projects/ This could be a big impact in the Ruby Creek area and the surrounding area in Mason County. Please check out projected project and see what kind of impact it may have on you.

Meeting at the club, Saturday Sept 12th at 4:30 pm. Meeting is after the Hunters Safety Course. This is a potluck meeting. We will also have our 50/50 raffle drawing you can win up to $500.00. If you haven't received your tickets or want more tickets, please contact Jim Williams. We will be having nominations for elections coming up, President, Treasurer and 3 board members. I have stated before that we are a much older membership and could really use some young blood to help out. Something to think about. Oct will be our Chili Cook Off, get them recipes ready!

Oh, my goodness. I was so worried I would accidently delete the pictures again and not get them posted, that I downloaded them twice on my computer. Well then silly me I deleted the whole dang SD card from my camera. I also somehow lost all Janets, and a few others pictures I am sorry guys. (I will look in the cloud for them). 🤭 (If I even have the cloud on.) 😟 Ok, so these set of pictures are the end of setting up before the start of the parade. Thanks again everyone. Small community fun as it should be. Thanks to Jerry Welcome for organizing and also Bruce Burke for all he does for the community.

This is the start of setting up for the parade and our bake sale here at the club. I would like to say, We at Ruby Creek Conservation and Recreation Club would like to thank everyone who came and supported our club by stopping by our bake sale. THANK YOU. And a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated the baked goods and put in the time to help out. I did it again, Oh My. I thought I could finish off the pictures here, geeze oh petes. Oh well enjoy.

Parade part 3. Well, I am getting old. And I kind of knew this would happen. These are the back end of the parade. I wanted this to be the start, but I loaded them wrong. (Scroll down to the first postings of the parade to start at the beginning. 🤭) Well at least I didn't delete them this year. As long as everyone enjoys seeing them, I'm happy.
