Please ask your State Representative and State Senator to support House Docket 4970, “An Act Relative State Employees Performing Core Functions”, filed by Rep. Tackey Chan (member of SAG-AFTRA). This bill would provide time and a half pay or one half comp day for every day that a Massachusetts p...

The NLRB has issued (yet) another pro-employer decision. The National Law Review reports:

06/11/2020

It's fair to appropriately award CEOs when they add value to their companies. It's tone-deaf and inappropriate to reward executives who preside over companies that fail and seek bankruptcy protection due to mismanagement or layoff thousands of workers, while receiving lush compensation packages.

Employees across Western Washington sent a strong message to Management at Sea Mar Community Health today: It is unfair, inequitable, and unacceptable for Sea Mar to expect frontline workers to bear the brunt of this economic downturn through furloughs and wage freezes while executive leaders continue to remain financially whole. Sea Mar leadership needs to lead by example and share in the sacrifice by making cuts to their own executive pay now.

OPEIU Local 6 members who work at the Office of Community Corrections are normally seen around the Commonwealth transporting and closely monitoring probationers referred to the Community Service Program. But with those programs temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, they are delivering masks, gloves and other desperately needed PPE to Local 6 members and other Trial Court staff. Your Local 6 Sisters and Brothers are grateful to you for your selfless efforts. Thank You!

The Trial Court is in the process of delivering Personal Protective Equipment for use by Trial Court staff in a wide variety of work environments. The surgical masks ordered by the Trial Court were originally intended for use in a medical facility.

Trial Court personnel may be able to reuse a mask, depending on the nature and proximity of their interactions. The Trial Court has received a medical opinion that masks may be reused for up to one week, when stored properly in a labeled paper bag.

Please follow the CDC’s guidance on the use and careful removal of masks.

According to the CDC:
Do not touch the outer surfaces of the mask;
Mask removal and replacement should be done in a careful and deliberate manner;
Face masks should be carefully folded, so that the outer surface is held inward and against itself to reduce contact with the outer surface during storage.
The folded mask can be stored between uses in a clean sealable(tape, staple, etc.) paper bag or breathable container.
