Like other young adults who are finding their way around college campuses this August, many young men in the Archdiocese of Boston are navigating through the halls of Saint John's Seminary . These men have said “yes” to God’s call and are now beginning a significant new chapter in their lives.

Gifts to the Catholic Appeal support the formation of priests and deacons through its funding of the Vocations Office. Your support has a direct impact on the lives of our seminarians and the future of our Church. Thank you!

Please keep our newest seminarians in your prayers as they adjust to their new residence, accompanied always and in all ways…by the Holy Spirit.

August has been a very busy month for our Catholic school teachers here in the Archdiocese! Last week, The McNeice Academy brought together over 50 K-8 teachers to study faith formation, academic instruction, and executive management. This was the second year of The McNeice Academy (named after the McNeice Foundation that funded it), a professional development program that supports teachers entering their first, second, or third year of teaching.

Investment in our teachers’ development is an investment in our students’ success. Thank you to all who support initiatives such as The McNeice Academy and, in so doing, ensure that our children receive instruction rooted in excellence, faith, and mission.

Congratulations to the Teacher Leadership Academy (TLA) participants on their successful completion of this inaugural 3-day pilot program! The TLA was designed to help cultivate effective Catholic school leaders by supporting them with stipends and two years of leadership formation. A sense of gratitude permeated the week as teacher-leaders felt known, respected, and appreciated by those who invested in this program. We look forward to the continued successes of this initiative!

The changing nature of Catholic schools demands leaders who are not only knowledgeable and skilled but also compassionate, empathetic, and capable of fostering a culture of collaboration and growth.

With this mindset, the McNiece Academy for Excellence in Catholic Education and the Teacher Leader Academy have been developed and will launch next week with a 3-day professional development series. The Catholic Schools Office will host over 100 Catholic school teachers from 47 K-8 schools across the Archdiocese. These programs strive to build authentic leadership capacity within our Catholic schools through academic collaboration, high quality leadership training, and research-based, reflective practices.

We look forward to welcoming these educators to the Pastoral Center as they reflect on their unique gifts and consider opportunities to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually. Gifts to the Catholic Appeal make these programs possible. Thank you and more to come!

Archbishop Henning frequently remarks that, “There is an entire generation right now that is leading the way in terms of their return to the faith.” Many young adults have been sharing their stories of faith and renewal. Today’s Catholic Appeal spotlight is on Marie!
Support for the Catholic Appeal helps our parishes prepare for the wave that is coming and to receive this next generation with vibrancy and joy.
