🌟 Y Bright Spot of the Week

During COVID, the Brainerd Family YMCA launched Silver Sneakers classes over Zoom to help older adults stay active and connected from home.

At the time, we weren’t sure if virtual classes would continue once people could gather in person again.

But recently, one couple reminded us exactly why they still matter. 💙

After the husband was hospitalized and unable to drive, his wife suddenly couldn’t make it to their regular Silver Sneakers class at the Y.

She didn’t want to give up something she loved.

Instead, she joined from home through Zoom and loved it.

Not only was she able to continue staying active, but once her husband was feeling better, he was even able to join her from home as he was able.

What started as a solution during a pandemic became a lifeline for members facing transportation, mobility, or health challenges.

That’s the beauty of the Y.

Build confidence and safety skills in the water this summer!

Whether your child is taking their first splash or working on advanced swim techniques, YMCA Swim Lessons help kids develop lifelong water safety skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Lessons are available for ages 6 months–12 years, with options for parent-child classes, preschool swimmers, and school-age youth.

💧 Member registration opens June 9
💧 Community registration opens June 11
