An engaging, impactful, and powerful presentation at Rotary!
A huge thank you to contemporary artist Kent Estey Estey Paintings , a proud member of the White Earth Nation of Ojibwe, for speaking to our club yesterday. Kent shared his journey, his connection to his family, his craft, and his love for the landscape of northwestern Minnesota, and, most impactfully (if you ask me) a deeply moving telling of his grandmother's story that left a lasting impression on everyone in the room. If you ever have the chance to hear Kent speak, do not pass it up.
His incredible abstract paintings reflect his Ojibwe heritage, using rich colors, textures, and elements like stone and copper. We highly encourage everyone to seek out his work.
Right now, you can view his exhibition, Mino-Bimaadiziwin (The Good Life), on display through Project 412 in Detroit Lakes from May through September 2026. You can also find his work in numerous collections, regional festivals, and art centers across the Midwest.
