Greetings, LAWA members and guests,
Join us this Tuesday, May 19th, at 5pm for our monthly meeting at the Brainerd Public Library.

Remember, the meetings are open, and everyone is welcome! If you've missed a few meetings or just haven't gotten around to trying us out, NOW is the time.

This month, member Travis Casey will lead a discussion on editing. It's a big topic with a lot of variables. Can you do it yourself, with ARC readers, or should you hire a professional? What's the cost, and where do you find someone you can trust with that all important manuscript that you've labored over for so long? It's guaranteed to be a lively and informative discussion.

Hope to see you all on Tuesday! T.J. Jones

Still haven't read "The Slater Mysteries"? Memorial weekend is a good time to start! The Kindle series is on a countdown deal starting May 22nd. Just $2.99 for all five books. That price is only good for 3 days, so don't miss this deal.

Hello, LAWA members and guests,

Please join us at 5 pm on April 21st at the Brainerd Public Library for this month's entertaining and informative meeting. This month, Joe Prosit will lead a discussion on "Scene", and in his own words: "I'm looking forward to discussing what makes a scene, when a scene begins, when it ends, how it differs from a chapter, how they connect to one another, and what makes a scene "good."

Should be a great meeting.

In other news, the latest installment of "The Storyville Project" is nearing completion. Nearing is a relative word in this case, so if you're dying to squeeze in one last submission, talk to me at meeting.

I want to thank Theresa Hartenstein for her considerable efforts in helping me organize this edition and keeping things moving forward. Kudos to you, Theresa!

Several of our members have posted about their writer's journey of late: their firsts and their accomplishments. I won't expound here, I'll let them do that at our next meeting, but I hope that the LAWA organization had a small (or large) part in helping them along the way.

Special mention to Bev Abear, who will be launching her "Amazing Amanda" series at the Passport Restaurant, 2-4, on Thursday the 23rd. Interestingly, April 23rd is World Book Day, and the birthdate of William Shakespeare. Coincidence? I think not!

See you all at the meeting. Warmest Regards, T.J. Jones

If you check out the entertainment section of Wednesday's Brainerd Dispatch, you'll see that LAWA's own Beverly Abear has a book launch of the "Amazing Amanda" series coming up. It's at the Passport Restaurant (old Sage) in downtown Brainerd, 2-4pm on the 23rd of April. (The paper says 2-3, but Bev is sticking around for an extra hour) I know this series has been a labor of love for Bev, so let's all show up and support her.
