Surprise! Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Likely from the wind. I’m only seeing heavy rain for now. At most might be a few pea size, but not seeing anything indicative of that.

Cell in the northeast corner of the county. Doesn’t look like anything other than heavy rain and wind.

Very interesting situation. We have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning polygon coming into the county with no storm. Here’s the situation: You can see the front line on radar ahead of and south of the storms. The wind just with the frontal boundary are 60+ MPH. The criteria for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is 58 MPH. The front has met the wind criteria and triggered the warning.

Heavy Rain with some wind and a few pea size hail. Nothing severe in the country at this time. A lot of lightning strikes on the south end of town, which we can’t take for granted.

Have been watching this, but the part in McCulloch County hasn’t looked too concerning(Even though NWS Severe Warned it)...

Have been watching this, but the part in McCulloch County hasn’t looked too concerning(Even though NWS Severe Warned it). The part around Winchell is probably the strongest and it’s headed to San Saba County.

This cell became ugly very quickly. It is indicative of very large hail and possibly rotation. It is also moving very slowly. It’s hard to get a good detail on the path of the core just yet. Hopeful that it will stay to the south, or even better, choke itself out.

All I’ve seen out and about has been a little wind and rain. Quite a bit of lightning also, putting on a pretty good show. Anything that might have been more severe stayed south of the County. I’ll still be watching until we’re clear, just not posting much unless it’s more severe. Thank you all!

The cell in Menard County is currently the biggest threat. It is now tracking more east and may cross just the very southern part of McCulloch County. The wild card is the small cell headed toward Brady. We will see soon if it intensifies or if it’s affected by the Menard County cell.
