Warming Center Update:

Due to colder than expected temps, wind chills, and an earlier arrival of this cold front; the warming center at First United Methodist Church has been set up to be a shelter for Thursday night. New hours will be opening Thursday, December 22nd at 6pm through Friday, December 23rd at 8pm. If you need a place to shelter or just a place for a got meal and to warm up, you are invited. Thank you to those volunteering to help, City of Brady, and the FUMC church family for helping make this possible. If you want to donate, we always need blankets, electric heaters, hand warmers, and warm weather gear.

As Kettle Season is nearing its close (we are closing it a day early because of the extremely cold weather), we just want to say thank you to all who help ring the bell! We have two days left in our biggest fundraiser of the year.

Here's a little bit about what giving in the Kettle or ringing the bell does for our community...

Urgent Care - Helping with urgent needs such as utilities, rental assistance, and more.

Food Pantry - We supply the food pantry at the MCRC monthly with food from the Concho Vally Food Bank and work in partnership with them to ensure food needs are met.

Angel Tree - We are able to help meet the needs of families at Christmas and ensure no Angel is left behind.

Summer Camps - We get to give scholarships to kids to attend our summer youth camps.

Emergency Disaster Assistance - We provide support for events throughout the year such as wildfires, house fires, cold weather Assistance and more. If there's a need, we are here to help.

Event Support - We help out at multiple community events such as Goat Cook Off, Drag Boat Races, Christmas in the Heart, ect.

So much of that comes through that little Kettle. Everything you give there stays local and this year we have helped out with over $20,000.00 in needs, all because of your support. We are thankful for community partnerships with so many groups such as McCulloch County Resource Center, City of Brady, McCulloch County, local churches, restaurants, and businesses, Brady Standard, KNEL Radio, Brady Today, and so many others that we cant list them all.

So thank you Brady/McCulloch County, for helping us "Do The Most Good."

Thankful to be able to serve our local first responders and so greatful for thier support!

A Salvation Army Warming Center will be open at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 401 S Blackburn St from 8am to 8pm, Friday, December 23rd. The Salvation Army in partnership with FUMC Brady will provide a place to get warm for the day and enjoy a hot meal and beverages. There will also be blankets and electric heaters available for those who need them, while supplies last.

Lastly, we want to say thank you to First United Methodist Church Brady for opening up thier facilities to SAB and to help those in need.

With temperatures dropping below freezing and extreme windchill for a period of a little over 24hrs, we want to provide a place to help anyone warm up. Anyone in need is welcome to come. If you work out in the elements, for the city, police, fire, please plan to stop by for a warm meal.

If you have an angel and have not returned your gift/s to the Resource Center, please get those in as soon as possible so we can finalize out families for pick up.

13 Angel's left on the tree! Will you be an angel to a child or senior adult this year?

Our deadline is this Friday, December 16th so we can get gifts gathered for each family and let them pick them up. Drop off is at the Resource Center at 906 E. 11th St.
