I am close to being banned from the “Swan Lake” Facebook group. It seems I was rude to the Chicago Lawyer owners. I have since apologized to the group for my unkindness to the lawyers. (?) But you all know my feeling about unqualified, unexplained, absurd grabs at every cent you can cough up, all to enrich their own lifestyle. What about yours? ...with your roofs blown off, carports distributed to the next county, sitting in the dark; spoiled food in your refrigerators & undrinkable water? ...and these kind, thoughtful owners had to rush out “The Letters” so that they could get their unconscionable rent increases in by the beginning of the coming year. Yup, I sure owe them an apology, eh?

So, “The Letters” have gone out & residents will have to miraculously come up with another $72 per month? Just the next step in clearing out all the retirees to make room for working couples? Yup, a “World Class, (money-grubbing) Community” - Mission Accomplished.

I really, REALLY miss editing the Waves because next month’s issue would’ve been a doozy!

I have it on good authority that Zeke & Friend’s Monday afternoon (2pm – 4pm) Jam Sessions rates as some of the best entertainment ever hosted in our Swan Lake Clubhouse. Malcolm has really hit on something for residents (or anyone for that matter) to pass an afternoon enjoying some really good music along with socializing with your neighbors.

Unfortunately, I have missed the 1st two sessions due to prior commitments, but I intend to add this event into my not-so-busy schedule. (I am retired, after-all!) As my “good authority”, Pat attended this past January 17th session & intends to make it a regular occurrence.

We don’t have photos or videos as of now, but hope that you will add some as a response post. We also hope to see you at future Sessions – you won’t be sorry for taking the time.

Do you know the definition of “greed”? I have paraphrased the dictionary definition: “A desire to acquire or possess an excessive amount of wealth, more than what one needs or deserves”.

Here we are near the beginning of October, the required 3 months away from January 1 when the owners of Swan Lake Village continue their march to acquire an excessive amount of wealth. All residents have received their "letter". If I can trust my math, next year’s haul will be an additional 7.1% to our Chicago crew. (For reference, this year experienced a mere 5.5% over the previous year). I wonder what they plan to do with their ADDITIONAL $150,000+ for 2022.

I really wish others would offer their opinion on these pages. The previous local manager has been fired so he can no longer threaten to kick us out for speaking up – that reign of terrorism has ceased. I really wish the HOA would do as the Florida Mobile Home Park statutes allow & suggest; demand either an accounting of the justification of the increase dollars, or if the owners prefer, provide specific details of the use of "comparables" to justify their action.

Otherwise, without any push-back or media exposure, based on the current trend, next year’s rent will be 10% higher ($825) & the following year will be up by 13% ($932). The previously-named negotiation meeting (present-named information meeting) does absolutely nothing for residents. I know that nothing is going to happen – nothing is going to change. More & more residents will leave so that young, working couples (contrary to the Park’s over-55 charter) can move in to continue filling the Chicago Owner’s coffers.

I hope everyone was able to stay awake to enjoy the neighbor's fireworks displays all around the perimeter of Swan Lake. The noise, & flashes continued unabated from around 10:30 pm until 1:30 am. Midnight was a spectacle to behold.

We wandered out to our backyard patio overlooking the lovely Pescara Lake to shoot these pictures. I am eager to see if Becky Moore captured some images - she always does & they are awesome. Look for her efforts on Face Book. Did anyone else get some shots? I'm sure Helen would love to have them for the Waves.

We want to wish all our friends & neighbors from Swan Lake & beyond, a Very Happy & Safe 2021 New Year.

We know why “he” squeaked out a top spot on 2020 most admired man list. Who can possibly golf nearly every day of the year, travel the world free of charge without doing anything, get a $ million worth of medical care that no one else in the world can get, sleep in every day of his life, watching TV?

I’d love to have those perks too. I admire the con he put over on 50% of the population of the country. Don’t misunderstand, I don’t agree with it. Yup, I see why so many claim to admire that snake.

Well, regardless of your political lean, or bent, it will be over very soon. As in any sporting event, may the best man win. As when I edited The Waves, I express no opinion one way or the other, for one side or the other, nor do I encourage any. I just hope we can heal our wounds, bury our anger & get on with seeing our our relatives & friends & neighbors healthy after a very long 8 or 9 months. Just think, it’s nowhere over yet. We need to get all the votes counted, certify an election winner & get to solving our national pandemic problem. Who here looks forward to “the old days” when we can have visitors over for a sippy of wine & normal conversation? How about random trips to the Comedy Club, the beach picnics, the block parties? Stay healthy all. ~Bob

How are we all doing in this age of pandemic? Are we ALL protecting & respecting the health & safety of our friends & neighbors? Are we ALL wearing our masks, obeying the social distance specified by the authentic CDC & lathering up with hand sanitizer after every potential contact? I’m hoping that sanitizing wipes, isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide are included on your counter-top safety kit. I’d like to think we are ALL doing our part. Are we, or have we become complacent? Comments?

Hey, want to see your lot-rent payments at work? Wander over to J-23 on Shady Lane & say “Hi” to our hard working maintenance guys cleaning out the mobile home. Can’t miss the location for the huge dumpster out front. I’m wondering if a remodel is in the works or merely tear down the structure? I think an “as-is” sale is out of the question because the advertising creates a very bad image for the community. “They” wouldn’t do that?

How are your lawn & flowers doing? Have you noticed many lawns in the park are dying? Pat & others have spent much time, effort, & dollars on their front lawns, only to experience dying or dead grass. She waters, as allowed, using our sprinkler system sourced from the park's pond water. There is a theory that the pond maintainers are using an herbicide or other chemical for treatment. The purpose of the chemicals is to control invasive vegetation, so the results on broad-blade Florida grass is no surprise.

We need signage to notify us if this is true. Other states require it - Florida not so much. Please post comments or knowledge you may have. ~Bob
