AMIkids Manatee

AMIkids Manatee Creating Community Problem Solvers and Global Competitors Day Treatment programs allow youth to reside at home and attend the program daily.

AMIkids offers a wide variety of programs and models, built to address each student's issues and troubled pasts on an individual basis. All of our programs implement the AMIkids Personal Growth Model © to separate their troubled past from a bright future. Residential programs operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week with students residing in dormitories on campus. The youth participate in these p

rograms for approximately 4-9 months and leave only for off-site supervised program activities or approved furloughs, distancing them from their 'normal environment and allowing them to focus solely on their situation and making things right to better their future. Youth have been adjudicated delinquent by the court and typically have multiple misdemeanors or felonies. Day treatment programs are co-ed, serving both boys and girls and typically last from 4-6 months. Staff are able to address issues in both the home and in the students' neighborhood by working with the kids and family together. Youth have been adjudicated delinquent by the court for misdemeanors and lesser felonies. Students are referred through juvenile justice agencies or school districts. Family Services programs provide home-based family counseling and intervention through an AMIkids counselor that makes regular visits to the home to work with the youth and family to address issues that may be causing delinquent behavior. This program is implemented as designed by Functional Family Therapy (FFT LLC, Inc.), which is a short-term, high quality intervention program with an average of 12 sessions over a 3-4 month period. FFT is a strength-based model and at its core is a focus and assessment of those risk and protective factors that impact the child and their environment. AMIkids prevention model works with local school districts to help kids who exhibit behavior or academic struggles that may lead to being a risk of dropping out or becoming part of the juvenile justice system. This model inspires academic success and helps communities and schools prevent offenses from happening, rather than only treating after they offend. AMIkids alternative schools that emphasize improving student citizenship and increasing academic functioning level during regular school hours and work in collaboration with local school districts. Referred youth receive alternative education because they are unable to perform within the public school system, have displayed disruptive behavior, are facing expulsion or having experienced learning disabilities or emotional handicaps. AMIkids After School programs provide comprehensive programming to help students in grades 7-12 determine and develop career pathways through vocational education and training, as well as job placement and support services. This program gives students who are demonstrating risk behaviors in school and/or the community an opportunity to learn useful vocational career technical skills and industry-recognized certificates that prepare them to make better choices and contribute to the community. Centers for Academic Discipline (CADs) provide students an alternative to suspension, expulsion and/or juvenile justice institutionalization. The model serves youth who are either failing high school due to excessive or extreme anti-social behaviors or those who previously dropped out but are now ready to focus on graduating. Three stand-alone program models (School Safety, School Performance, and Graduation Intervention) operate as a comprehensive set of services under one school program. Each set of services are separated and defined by designated classroom and learning spaces. Residential Care programs specialize in behavior modification and personal/social development for both boys and girls, who often come from the foster care system after multiple failed placements. Students are housed at homes or facilities until permanency options are available, which include adoption, mentorship, appropriate foster care, or independent living. Students in this program receive training in developing goals, meeting expectations, and making better choices.

🚨🛟 Abandon Ship! Building Confidence & Preparedness — One Drill at a Time 🛟

At AMIkids Manatee, we're not just teaching skills — we're shaping strong, capable young men ready to handle real-world challenges.

Our students took part in an abandon ship drill, where they learned what to do in a maritime emergency. From practicing safety protocols to exploring the contents of a real life raft, they got a firsthand look at what it takes to stay calm and act quickly under pressure.

These experiences build more than just knowledge — they build confidence, responsibility, and teamwork.
Afterwards, the boys enjoyed a well-deserved fishing session — a perfect way to wind down, reflect, and connect with one another. 🎣

We’re proud to offer these hands-on lessons that prepare our young men not only for potential careers, but for life.

🚨 FEAR FACED. LIMITS SHATTERED. CONFIDENCE BUILT. 🌲💪

Last month, 3 courageous young men went deep into the wilderness — not just to experience nature, but to confront their fears head-on.

🌊 They braved roaring whitewater rapids.
🧗‍♂️ Rappelled off sheer rock faces.
🌉 Walked ropes high above the ground.

Every step pushed them outside their comfort zones — and into a space where growth happens. 💥
This Wilderness Challenge wasn’t just about adventure.
It was about resilience.
Trusting themselves.
And realizing that fear doesn’t have the final say — they do.

We’re proud of these young men for rising to the challenge. The courage they showed out there is the same strength they'll carry with them for life. 🙌

At AMIkids, we believe in helping young people discover their potential through hands-on learning and real-world skills. And here in Florida, where water is everywhere, learning how to stay safe on the water is essential.

From life jackets to emergency drills, these young men are gaining more than just boating skills — they’re building confidence, leadership, and responsibility. 🧭🛟

Water safety saves lives. And with the right guidance, our youth can navigate any current — on the water and in life.

🌟 Alumni Spotlight: From Potential to Purpose 🌟

“AMI helped me embrace being different. I learned it’s okay to be the ‘ugly duckling,’ because sometimes the one who doesn’t fit in is the one who was meant to stand out.”

Dana Law, graduate of AMIkids Manatee, is building a life he once thought was out of reach, proving that where you start doesn’t define where you can go.

At “The Mighty Manatee,”he didn’t just stand out — he rose above. Through hard work, mentorship, and a belief in himself, he’s now a leader, a role model, and a reminder that every young person has the power to create their own path.
