Joey Powers Leukemia Project

Joey Powers Leukemia Project Non-profit that supports families battling pediatric leukemia by providing financial, education and emotional support

Joseph Connar Powers received his angel wings on November 20, 2010 after a 5 month battle with ALL. He had a profound impact on many people in his short 16 years here. We are striving to keep Joey's legacy going by promoting compassion and generosity towards others.

**Would you like to be a Sponsor**
The 8th annual Lax Against Leukemia preseason tournament is the largest ever thanks to our local community and lacrosse family. Their collective support enables us to provide critical resources to families battling pediatric leukemia. Our commitment to Joey’s legacy, and his connection to this area’s original lacrosse roots, has enabled our event to extend far beyond Lakewood Ranch, with teams regularly attending from Orlando to Naples. By maintaining a high level of competitive play, and an unwavering commitment to the growth of the lacrosse in Florida, Lax Against Leukemia has grown into one of the largest (FHSAA sanctioned) lacrosse events for girl’s and boy’s teams in the state. Lax Against Leukemia and the Joey Powers Leukemia Project are seeking local businesses that share our sense of community values, and dedication to helping families battle pediatric leukemia.

If you would like to join us honoring Joey’s legacy and making a positive community impact through lacrosse, please click the link below and a member of our team will contact you to finalize your sponsorship.

Our Story

The Joey Powers Leukemia Project, headquartered in Bradenton, Florida, is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2010. Joey's cousin Bradley and Joey's aunt Molly Clothier established the Joey Powers Leukemia Project in honor of Joey who passed away in 2010 at the age of 16 from leukemia. We are striving to keep Joey's legacy going by promoting compassion and generosity towards others.

The Joey Powers Leukemia Project's mission is to support families affected by pediatric leukemia by providing financial, educational and emotional support. The Joey Powers Leukemia Project is committed to raising awareness about this devastating disease. We are determined to make a difference in the lives of others just as Joey would have chosen to do with his life.
