“It’s Your Money”

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension (Uvalde and Kinney County) partnered with Uvalde Capital Farm Credit for the 2nd year to provide the Junior and Senior classes of Brackett ISD with the program “It’s Your Money” This financial education simulation program focuses on sharing knowledges and skills in which these young adults can utilize in navigating their own financial future. The program was comprised of two components: classroom-based financial education and a capstone activity where students had the opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills to make real-life decisions without real-world consequences in a simulated environment. After the activity, students were given the opportunity to discuss their experience as well as seeking advice on how to manage various financial situations.
The program was a great introduction to the reality of the financial obligations these young adults will encounter on their journey to success.
Thank you to all who contributed to the success of this program.

Principles B4 Practices

Kinney AgriLife Extension partnered up with Texas Grazing Land Coalition and West Nueces-Las Moras Soil and Water Conservation District to put on the Edwards Region GLC Principles B4 Practices Workshop. Our workshop consisted of Soil Health Principles by Billy Griffin (Edwards GLC) Grazing Management by Kason Haby (TXGLC) with both Kason and Billy providing a rainfall simulator, Virtual Fence presentation by Marc Duderstadt, Drone Technology presentation by Sky Senderos, LLC Tyler Coover. Finishing up our workshop was Gary Stephens (WHF) with Wildlife Habitat Management. It was a great opportunity to provide helpful conservation practices and resources for our local ranchers and landowners. We appreciate the partnership and hope to continue to bring better land management practices to our community as well as surrounding communities. We would like to thank Donna Schuster for preparing the delicious lunch sponsored by TXGLC and NRCS.
