Hi, everyone! We are so pleased to invite you all to our annual Juneteenth celebration. This year it will be taking place on Saturday, June 20. Along with the slate of activities that we do every year, this year will be especially important as we present a special treaty that we have collaborated with the Lipan Apache to write. It will be read publicly and signed during our Juneteenth celebration. This treaty is meant to show solidarity and friendship between our two groups as we come together in the spirit of reconciliation and healing.

If you would like to participate in the parade, let us know.

Memorial Day is not only about flags waving in the sunlight or names etched into stone. It is about absence. Empty chairs at kitchen tables. Voices that once filled homes with laughter. Futures interrupted so that others might live theirs freely.

Today we remember people who were somebody’s child, somebody’s first love, somebody’s best friend. People who carried photographs in their pockets, wrote letters home, dreamed about tomorrow, and still chose courage in the face of fear.

There is something sacred about being remembered.
To speak a name.
To tell a story.
To pause long enough to feel the weight of what was given.

Freedom is often spoken about loudly, but sacrifice is quiet. It lives in folded uniforms, in aging photographs, in the tears of those who still grieve decades later. It lives in the hearts of families who learned how to keep going while carrying unimaginable loss.

So today, may we do more than celebrate. May we remember with tenderness. May we honor not only how they died, but how they lived. And may we strive to build a world worthy of the sacrifices made on our behalf.

Gone from sight, but never from the story of this nation.
