Mary Mele Memorial Basketball Tournament

Mary Mele Memorial Basketball Tournament The Mary Mele Memorial B-Ball Tournament is an non- profit event that takes place every summer to raise funds for people in our community fighting cancer.

The Mary Mele Memorial Basketball Tournament was founded in 2010 by Robert Schrecengost in honor of Mary Mele, the woman that adopted him and passed away from a rare form of breast cancer.Robert conceived the idea of the tournament to raise money for the American Cancer Society and Highlands Relay for Life event in Natrona Heights, PA. Since that first year, the tournament has raised thousands of

dollars to support organizations that provide services or funding to cancer patients in the Alle-Kiski Valley. The event involves more than 100 non-professional basketball players competing with 5 players against 5 players in elimination rounds, vying for bragging rights and the traveling trophy, while raising money for cancer patients. Families and friends of the players, as well as the community, are invited to the event, which has in the past offered a vendor fair, concession sales, raffles and giveaways, live music and a DJ and live demonstrations from local gyms and organizations. The is proud to continue supporting local cancer patients in the fight for their lives!
