Dear Friends of HRDC,

Over the past few years, HRDC has been actively involved in planning for the creation of the Gallatin Valley Urban Transportation District, the future home of Streamline and Galavan. The creation of this District is on the current Special District election ballot. Ballots were mailed out April 14th and are due by May 2nd at 8pm. No polling places will be open on May 2nd. We need your help in spreading the word about the importance of this new District and encouraging your friends/neighbors/colleagues to vote.

Here are a few key points we ask that you share:

1. Creating the Gallatin Valley Urban Transportation District is the way to maintain Streamline and Galavan services.

2. HRDC endorses the creation of this District because it is critical to the current and future operations of Streamline and Galavan services.

3. There is NO cost to form the District.

In order for the District to be created, more than 50 percent of voters must vote YES for the creation of the District.

If you have specific questions about the District, please visit StreamlineBus.com/UTD. If you’d like to learn more about the Vote YES campaign, please visit YesForStreamline.org. There are still many opportunities to help Get The Vote Out.

We appreciate all of your support in these efforts.

Sincerely,

Heather Grenier

Over the last couple of days the Shields River and tributaries have seen a large amount of flooding. Flood waters scoured behind the abutment on Shields River Road over Flathead Creek requiring the bridge to be closed. Passenger vehicles are able to use Potter Creek Road and bridge to access the upper Shields River valley. Park County road crew began performing work on the bridge this afternoon and will continue over the next couple days. Fiddle Creek Road is closed from 89N to Shields River Road East due to the large amount of water flowing over the road. Fiddle Creek will be opened once waters recede and repairs to the road surface are made.
As waters recede staff and engineers will perform inspections on bridges throughout the valley looking for any damage that may have occurred which we not able to be seen at high water. Once we have secured bridges we will begin repairing roads. With the large amount of damage we are seeing on every road in the North half of the counties repairs may take several weeks. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work on repairs from another historic event.

Floods can happen anywhere - just one inch of floodwater can cause up to $25,000 in damage. But unfortunately, most homeowners insurance doesn't cover flood damage.
Flood insurance is a separate policy that can cover buildings, the contents in a building, or both. It is a crucial tool to protect your most important financial assets - your home, your business, your possessions.
If you feel your property is at risk of flooding, you may want to consider flood insurance. You do not have to live in a floodplain to get flooding insurance - any homeowner in the county can purchase a policy.
Flood insurance has a 30-day waiting period for the policy to take effect, so you can’t wait until flooding is imminent to get a policy. It will be too late.
Contact your insurance agency for policy information. There are insurance products available through the National Flood Insurance Program, as well as private insurers.
