Montana Council for Economic Education The Montana Council on Economic Education is a 501(c)(3) educational foundation with a primary emphasis on teacher education.

The Montana Council on Economic Education (MCEE) was founded over three decades ago by a group of business leaders who felt it was important that teachers and their students have a solid grasp of our free enterprise system and the overall economic environment in which we live. The MCEE is committed to offering programs that are fair and balanced and address a wide variety of economic issues. This ...would include economic development, employment, the environment, taxation, education, government, personal economics and a wide variety of other related topics. The MCEE has a board of directors from across Montana representing business, education, government and agriculture. MCEE's first executive director was Dr. Terry Anderson, now executive director of the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC), who served from 1976-86. Dr. Norm Millikin, a retired Montana State University College of Business professor and marketing consultant, served from 1986-2008. 📊 The Stock Market Game Leaderboard: as of 10/19! 📊

Montana students started with a $100,000 virtual portfolio and are investing in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds based on real market conditions. Here's who's leading so far:

🥇 Hellgate High School is in first with $108,415.44, up more than 8%! Congrats to Steven Klimkiewicz's students.
🥈 Big Sky High School is right behind at $107,164.79 (Matt Johnson's class).
🥉 Sidney High School holds third at $104,603.48 (Russell Biniek's class).

A few standouts:
⭐ Billings Senior High has FIVE teams in the top 25!
⭐ Skyview and Laurel each placed three teams on the board.
⭐ From Hellgate to Garfield County to Sidney, students from every corner of the state are proving they can hold their own in the market.
⭐ Shoutout to Charlene Heil of Custer, whose students are on the leaderboard for both Big Sky Biz Sim AND the Stock Market Game! 🙌

The market moves fast, so these standings can change any day. Keep those portfolios growing! 📈

📈 Big Sky Biz Sim Leaderboard Update: as of 10/15! 📈

Students across Montana are running their own widget companies, making every call on production, pricing, sales, and distribution. The competition is heating up!

🥇 Lambert School holds the #1 spot with a stock price of $55.22, and has three teams in the top 10! Congrats to Quintin Omdahl's students.
🥈 Custer Public School is close behind at $51.59 (Charlene Heil's class).
🥉 Melstone High School rounds out the top three at $47.35 (Tamaira Wacker's class).

A few standouts:
⭐ Dillon Middle School has FOUR teams in the top 25, and they're holding their own against high schoolers!
⭐ Skyview and Glacier High each placed four teams on the board too.
⭐ Small schools are showing big business sense. Lambert, Custer, and Melstone are leading the state!

Shoutout to every teacher and student building real-world financial skills one decision at a time. There's still plenty of time to climb, so who's making a move next? 👀

MCEE has officially launched the Fall 2026 Big Sky Biz Sim, presented by First Interstate Bank! 📈🏔️

Over the next 10 weeks, students across Montana will run their own manufacturing businesses, making every decision to produce, sell, and distribute their product. Along the way, they'll learn real-world lessons in cash flow, borrowing, marketing, business ethics, and the law of diminishing returns.

With 200 teams competing, here's the Top 20 after Q1 calculations:

🥇 Lambert School leads the pack at $53.91
🥈 Bozeman High School at $49.96
🥉 Laurel High School at $49.02

Big shoutout to Bozeman High, with 6 teams in the Top 20, and Laurel High, with 5!
