This month, our Asia Coordinator and one of Nexus International’s Vice Presidents traveled to Mauritius to continue investing in a growing disciple-making movement through one of our Nexus Ambassadors and his church plant.

Across the island, there is a growing hunger among young leaders for deeper discipleship, healthy community, and a more intentional way of following Jesus. During the trip, they helped facilitate a day of training that gathered youth leaders from a variety of churches and ministry contexts across Mauritius to explore what it means to live as disciples who make disciples.

We are deeply encouraged by the vision, faithfulness, and potential of the Church in Mauritius, and grateful to continue walking alongside leaders who are investing in the next generation and helping cultivate a lasting culture of disciple-making on the island.

Last month, our Latin America Coordinator, Efra Argüello, met up with friends and partners to encourage them in ministry and sharpen skills to use God's creation to proclaim his word.

It was a fruitful time of deepening relationships as we continue to develop leaders in this region. We are grateful for what the Lord is doing and are so excited to see what comes next!

Here, our Director Joel Vermilion, uses the confluence of two very different rivers to make a point about where we as Christians receive life from.

If we are not connected to the healthy source, Christ, then we will not produce fruit, our banks will have no vegetation and the toxicity will fluorish. But if we are planted by streams of living water as Psalm 1 says, we will be fruitful in our good works for Christ.

God's creation can be used to allow wisdom from scripture to come to life for people in new ways. Praise God!

On our recent Austria training we took leaders into a cave as a part of the experience, while there we began to worship the Lord in song. It was a beautiful experience singing this hymn in a natural cathedral.

What a gift to worship in creation!

Last week our WMI Director, Joel Vermillion, spent some time in Austria introducing leaders from around Europe to wilderness ministry principles. They were able to see how everything from mountain biking to kayaking to via ferratas can be used to proclaim the gospel!

Pray for these leaders as they return to their local churches and implement relational disciple-making using wilderness as a tool.

We often talk about the example of Jesus using Creation as a tool to teach his disciples, but sometimes it is missed that God has used His creation from the beginning to reveal Himself. In the Old Testament we see many examples where Creation is used to understand and worship God. This is alongside the word or the law in the Old Testament, which is important for us to realize.

Here our Director, Joel Vermillion, shares that from Genesis on God is using Creation as a tool to teach and guide His people. We can follow in these ancient paths and use God's greatest classroom ourselves.

We recently got the chance to connect with two missionaries in the Philippines doing incredible work spreading the gospel but also using the tool of Creation within that work. We are currently working on telling their story as a part of an upcoming Creation Care online course.

Brian and Jacinda Martin have been faithfully serving communities in the Philippines for over 20 years. They have seen the direct impact environmental restoration has on their missional efforts. In caring for their community they can share Christ in an impactful way.

They have focused on reef restoration to bring back the fish to the waters surrounding their community. Caring for creation has been a passion of theirs and they are passionate about sharing that with other Christians.

Here's a clip from our new online course where Andrew shares a teaching on the outcomes of Wilderness Ministry. Here specifically he talks about how using God's creation as a ministry tool an heighten our awareness of God or the awareness of those we are ministering to.

Creation is a powerful tool God gives and if you're interested in learning to use it in a way that is biblically minded and theologically sound, check out our new online course! Link in our bio.

We are excited to announce that our new and improved online course is now available for free on Teachable! This course has been a labor of love for our team and we are so excited for it to be a blessing to ministry leaders all over the world.

This is a great starting point for anyone who is interested in using the outdoors to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that God reveals himself through creation and uses it as a tool to form disciples.

At the start of each new year, our Nexus Asia team gathers in Thailand for a retreat—leaders from across the region coming together for prayer, rest, time in God’s Word, and mutual sharpening for the work ahead.

To close the week, our WMI Asia Regional Coordinator leads a wilderness outing that helps us experientially live out the theme of the retreat. This year, Andrew guided the team on a caving adventure, inviting the group to reflect on light, darkness, and the nature of evangelism.

Proverbs 4 describes life apart from God as “deep darkness,” while Colossians reminds us that in Christ we have been rescued from darkness and brought into the kingdom of light. What a powerful picture of evangelism: following the incarnational way of Jesus—willing to step into the darkness, carrying the light of Christ with courage and compassion for those longing for the hope that only Christ can provide.
