It’s time to meet your Women Hunt Field to Fork participants for the 2026 season! Welcome Avery!

Hi, my name is Avery, and I am from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. I am currently living in Knoxville, Tennessee, completing my Master of Social Work.

As I complete my Master of Social Work, I am also pursuing a Veterinary Therapy Certificate to learn more about the animal-human bond and hope to incorporate animal-assisted interventions into my practice in the future.

I did not grow up hunting personally, and it was not until recent years that I began to learn more about hunting and gained an interest in it. My grandfather was a big hunter, and although he has passed away, I feel I am able to connect with him and honor him through this course.

I learned about the Women Hunt Field to Fork course through a friend of mine who had the chance to participate in it in 2025. I felt that applying to Women Hunt would allow me to learn how to hunt ethically, learn more about conservation, and gain confidence within myself to hunt.

I am so excited that I now have a unique opportunity to grow my knowledge and skills alongside women who share the same goals and passion.

Andrea’s journey from novice to confident hunter is a powerful example of what Women Hunt is all about: creating opportunities, building confidence, and supporting women as they find their place in the hunting community.

On this episode of Women Hunt’s IGNITE Podcast, Andrea shares how she pushed through fear and uncertainty, learned to trust herself in the field, and discovered a passion for hunting that she can now share with her kids.

Her story is a reminder that you don’t have to grow up hunting to become a hunter. With education, mentorship, opportunity, and the support of the Women Hunt community, it’s never too late to start.

What’s holding you back from taking that first step?

It’s time to meet your Women Hunt Field to Fork participants for the 2026 season! Welcome Tracy!

My name is Tracy Babbitt, and I live in Alaska. I am the proud mom of three adult children and recently gained the title of “Gramma”!

I work in the operating room, and when I’m not there, I escape to the mountains to hike or camp, recharging in Alaska’s wild beauty.

I left my family behind to fulfill a dream and move to Alaska two years ago. Since then, I’ve embraced the adventurous and self-sufficient Alaskan way and have grown tremendously as a person, conquering mental roadblocks that previously held me back.

Learning to hunt is high on the list of goals that feels so difficult to achieve. There is SO MUCH to learn, and the lengthy list of costly gear and classes has been daunting.

When I saw this opportunity, I immediately felt that this was what I needed to get off the ground, gain the skills and confidence, and actually plan my first hunt!

Hunting has a way of opening doors to new places, new opportunities, and a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation.

For Jana Waller Bair, that journey started as a toddler and grew into a lifelong passion and career dedicated to hunting, conservation, and protecting our outdoor heritage.

As the producer and host of *Skull Bound Chronicles*, Jana has spent years using storytelling to advocate for wildlife, habitat, and the future of hunting. She is also an accomplished outdoor writer, artist, and conservation leader whose work continues to raise awareness and support for conservation.

Her journey is a reminder of the opportunities hunting can create and the responsibility hunters carry to give back, protect wildlife, and help ensure these traditions continue for generations to come.

IGNITE Podcast - Episode 34
Andrea Bouwman Andrea Bouwman

Enjoy our Part 2 of the new Blaze Series when Dana sits down with Women Hunt Field to Fork scholarship recipients. This week our guest is the lovely, Andrea Bouwman from Washington.

Andrea had one connection to hunting; her husband. In order to spend more time with him, the wheels started to turn that her getting into hunting would be another way for them to do that. Having young kids and a hairdressing job, time away together is a precious thing.

When the opportunity presented for her to apply for Field to Fork, she filled out the application and hoped for the best. She was ecstatic when she was selected to go to Texas and describes how the course and the staff at the ranch gave her confidence and courage. The connections to the other ladies, and to the Sheep Family in general became a source of strength in the months ahead as her husband’s health took an unexpected turn.

Andrea shares how she and one of her daughters have the exciting opportunity to attend this year’s Mama Bear Field Camp at Legends Ranch with Emily Richett.

We hope you’ll be inspired by Andrea’s story, her faith and the strength she’s found being part of the Women Hunt family.

It’s time to meet your Women Hunt Field to Fork participants for the 2026 season! Welcome Sophia!

Hi, I’m Sophia from California, and if there’s one thing that defines me, it’s curiosity.

My handle is because I’m constantly chasing the next skill to learn. My interests include backpacking, cooking, sewing, pageants, horseback riding, home DIYs, and pretty much anything creative.

I get a lot of joy from making things with my own two hands and learning new skills. I don’t like the idea of fitting into one box!

I attended Sheep Show (by myself!) in January without ever having hunted because I wanted to meet people who apply that same hands-on philosophy to their lives.

What drew me to hunting wasn’t the harvest itself, though I know that’s a big plus. It was the mindset of self-reliance, conservation, respect for wildlife, and taking responsibility for how you fuel your body.

I love the idea of cooking with the highest-quality meat while honoring the animal by using as much of it as possible.

More than anything, I hope this program gives me knowledge, mentorship, and lifelong friendships.

I can’t wait to learn from all of you, and I’m happy to teach anyone a thing or two about my many passions!!

Women Hunt® Committee Staff Liaison and Wild Sheep Foundation Vice President of Operations & Auction Director Kim Nieters got up close and personal with an absolute dinosaur at the Jurassic Classic, and judging by that smile, she didn’t mind one bit.

Kim is passionate about helping women find the resources, mentorship, and support they need to pursue their own journeys in hunting and the outdoors. Her experiences in the field have also strengthened her commitment to ethical harvest, sustainable wildlife management, and conserving the wild places that make moments like this possible.

And sometimes those wild places come with a sturgeon that looks like it swam straight out of the Jurassic period.

What an incredible fish and an even better memory!
