Fifteen resident veterans of the West Palm Beach V.A.and staff welcomed Inspirit’s Millie Tennessee today. Millie sang a wonderful variety of songs, from oldies (e.g., Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Unchained Melody, My Sweet Lord, Imagine), R&B/Motown (e.g., Dionne Warwick, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Aretha, Sam Cooke, Mary Wells, the Coasters), jazz (e.g., Dinah Washington), and more for an hour while working the room and getting these appreciative vets to sing along.

Inspirit’s Roy Connors (pictured with his banjo), formerly with the 1960s folk group, The Highwaymen, entertained over 30 vets at the West Palm Beach VA hospital on the 80th anniversary of D-Day. He opened with “God Bless America” and then filled the hour with popular folk songs from the 60s like “This Land is Your Land,” “If I Had a Hammer,” and of course, hits by the Highwaymen like, “Michael Row the Boat Ashore,” and “Cotton Fields.”
