NOTICE: Water will be shut off in Refuge buildings starting at 9 am tomorrow, May 22, 2026. The outdoor bathrooms behind the visitor center will be locked. A portable toilet is available at the Lee Rd boat ramp. This maintenance is crucial to the upkeep the water well on the Refuge because we are not connected to county water lines. Thank you for your understanding! Here is a picture a deer crossing the driveway towards our visitor center.

For further questions, please call the visitor center at (561) 734 8303 or email us at [email protected]

Part of the mission of the Friends of Loxahatchee NWR is to Educate. By contributing to the maintenance of the tram and by helping to lead tours of the Refuge, we educate young and old alike. These children learned about different plants, birds, alligators and even ant lions during their tram tour. Getting them interested in nature at a young age will help them become good stewards of our lands as they grow.
