Why does it feel so bad to do the right thing? I am devastated without my sweet girl, Mini. I did not want to get up this morning and had no reason to for the first time in 60 years without a dog. My Mini was my last greyhound and I miss her. No dog jumping on the bed to waken me. No dog licking my face to make me alert in the morning. No dog's eyes looking into my soul saying "time to get up and make me breakfast". No real good reason to get up and face another day. If only I could bring her back but in good condition - not infirm as she left me. If only dogs lived longer in our lives. If only ..... if only .... if only ..... I have to go on for all the other greys I can help - for all the other veterans and first responders I can make whole with a service dog - for all the pets I can place in happy homes. But I am hurting - hurting BAD. I don't know how to live without the four paws pacing around the house and running in the yard. God blessed me with so many canine creatures ..... and I appreciate that and loved each one with everything I had. I am lost right now. God will show me the way He wants me to go without her. One thing I will do is open my home to those with greyhounds nearby who have no fenced yard - they can come and enjoy my yard - Mini's yard ............. and maybe they will even catch an iguana or two. I am devastated. I know it will get a little less consuming but I am turning to God to help me through this. Thank you for all the amazing comments on my post about Mini leaving for the Rainbow Bridge. I read every one of them from friends I know and so many from Facebook people who I have never met. How kind of you to care. Meanwhile I grieve my sweet girl and all the others that have gone before her. I will meet you all at the Bridge someday and we will reunite in joy in each others arms

Mini is gone. She is greeted by my other 20 dogs at the bridge. These pictures are her in her hospital bed waiting for Gentle Pet Crossing. She could do nothing but lift her head since last night and there was no coming back from that no matter what I would try. Thank you to Beth for spending the day with me, to Ron for helping carry Mini from the place she landed overnight to a more comfortable location and thank you Michelle for coming to say goodbye. She is in a better place now but I am so lonesome without her!!!!

PRAYERS please for my Mini who is going to the bridge this afternoon with Gentle Pet Crossing. She has not been well lately but was ok until last night when she collapsed on the threshold of the bedroom trying to get to the bed to be with me. She has not moved and cannot get up. She barely lifted her head this morning to say good morning. Offered hamburger and cheese bits to her and she snubbed them. It is time. She is 11 1/2. Atascocita Mind was her racing name. I will miss her so much. She was a therapy dog for years with the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office. She is the last greyhound in the house. I am devastated.

So nice to get emails like this after an adoption:
Lynette Smith – June 7 2026
Barbara – you are amazing - I would like to thank you so much for your help finding/ getting me the perfect Greyhound that fit me. You kept me informed every step along the way about everything. Hydra has been doing great, he taught himself how go up down stairs, and he loves to play with his toys.
Thank you again Barbara
