Meet Angel Luka Lake 🌈
Luka was my very first Doggo . I had made the decision to add a new friend to my solo life. A short drive to MDAS ( Miami Dade )
End of day, where I would walk the entire 900 runs as I cried that most of those runs were holding 2- 3 pups a various sizes men with terrible aggression.
I nearly left as the cries and wailing from the dogs that were getting viciously attacked being tossed into a run with multiple aggressive doggos
Joel , came around the corner and told me it was closing time that he’d give me three minutes, as he was doing the shelter walk-through to make sure that there were no civilians hiding within. ( truth )
I thought to myself, I’ll come back tomorrow and as I made my way to the door the very last run on my left appeared empty, there was a flyer on the crate so I took a second look, and it told me there was a boxer in there that was scheduled for euthanasia due to severe respiratory infection and kennel, cough. I kept looking and I saw nothing…
Then suddenly I heard a whimper as I squinted my eyes and peered to the back of the run. I would see a tiny little black mask boxer , sitting in the corner, shaking, terribly and whimpering.
I hollered to Joel I’m leaving, as I approach the Exeter I veer to my left to Joel‘s office and inquired about this boy, he said he’s not available. He’s scheduled for euthanasia likely in the morning. He explained the circumstances.
I thought to myself… you’re going to euthanize a beautiful Pup because he has a cold ??
I begged and begged like I never have in my life to please change this voice status and make him available for me to adopt.. He was adamant on NO
I suddenly broke out in hysterical tears I couldn’t handle the rejection and the thought of leaving him behind, it was the tears that changed his mind. He said if I would take full financial responsibility for his medical and follow the vetting protocol records that I could pick him up the next morning.
I was there three hours before the shelter opened… that was a day the best moments of my life began . I would name him Luka Lake
We survived 14 years of some of the worst moments of my life “together . Luka held me up. And kept me strong through the loss of both of my parents, a younger sibling, a fiancé … two of them would be too horribly horrific causes leaving me struggling PTSD to this day .
Luka was called to the Rainbow Bridge nearly a year ago, and although I have a rescue and many many Doggos come into my world, there will never be another Luka
I am forever, a Boxer Lover & cannot wait for the moment that I can rescue 3-4 and show them the best life ever !
This was his first Christmas !!! this is my screensaver, and it will remain so forever ❤️
Sending tons of love to all of my fellow Boxer Parents - Kim & Crew
