Neste 11º Evento Anual Capoeira Karkará, celebramos muito mais que o BATIZADO e troca de graduação. Celebramos a união, o respeito e a força que nasce quando cada um se doa um pouco pelo todo.

A capoeira é nossa ferramenta de transformação social, e juntos construímos um espaço onde todos têm voz, vez e valor.

1st day of our event in Salvador Bahia was just amazing! Fun workshop with Contramestra Novata and birthday roda for Mestre Betinho. The axé was incredible. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this possible.

TODAY’S WORKSHOPS WITH MESTRE CABEÇÃO will be rescheduled.
Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe everyone!
We hope to open back up tomorrow as long as it is safe to do so, and will notify everyone as soon as we have confirmation.
MESTRE BOA GENTE has arrived safely! Storm or no storm, we will adapt as needed and make the most of it! The show will go on!

What an amazing day for Capoeira Karkara and the community where Mestre Betinho was raised. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed for the raffle to make this possible. It was very much appreciated by all those who participated. We were able to offer some free classes led by Mestre Betinho and Instrutora Lane of Grupo Capoeira Guerreiros. Many children got to be introduced to capoeira for the first time, and local capoeiristas and mestres gathered to share inspiration and energy in the classes and roda and enjoy a meal together afterwards. Our vision is to continue to promote and encourage the growth of capoeira as a tool for improving the quality of life, and to give back to the same community that gave so much to Mestre Betinho. Thank you all who continue to support this mission.

Thank to your donations we were able to give out some of the uniforms to those who need them, just in time for tomorrow's event!
What a great night reconnecting with our community in Salvador Bahia with an awesome class with .betinhokarkara along with our students who traveled from the U.S. to learn, support and be a part of this.

Saturday’s the day! Our 1st capoeira event in Bahia since before the pandemic! We are so grateful to be here with a small group of students to help our capoeira community here in Mestre Betinho Karkara] ‘s hometown, thanks to the generous donations we received, and thanks to our amazing team of teachers and volunteers who are holding down the fort for us at while we are away.

It's happening! So soon! We are getting close to reaching our goal to help pull this event off and provide much needed uniforms and training supplies for our capoeira community in Bahia Brazil. Your small donation goes a long way. $25 for each entry into our raffle to win a berimbau or pandeiro! We will draw the winner at batizado on July 16th. You don't need to be present to win, but trust us, you don't want to miss another epic Karkara Melbourne event! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. We can do this, together 🙌🏾

Mestre Betinho & the Capoeira Karkara family, in conjunction with the Capoeira Cultural Arts Foundation (CCAF) are committed to supporting the Capoeira Karkara community in Mestre’s hometown of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil with annual trips that allow us to connect with the community, organize events, and provide training supplies.

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to be returning this July with a small group from the US Capoeira Karkara family to host a community capoeira event and provide training supplies for current and future students.

Our immediate goals for these annual trips are to inspire and support our Capoeira Karkará students in Brazil and to promote community awareness of capoeira as a powerful tool to help navigate the challenges of life. Our long term goals are to provide scholarships for children, compensation for teachers, and resources to host a batizado in the near future.

In order to reach our goals for our upcoming trip next month, we need to raise a minimum of $1000.00.

This will cover:

Uniforms and instruments for current students

Free community class

Special workshop

Light refreshments

Bate papo

We are reaching out to our greater capoeira community to help us achieve this goal.

All your donations for this event will be collected on behalf of CCAF (501 c(3). The purpose of the Capoeira Cultural Arts Foundation is to fundraise for educational and cultural programming, outreach and scholarships for Capoeira Karkara domestically as well as in Mestre Betinho’s hometown community in Bahia, Brazil.
