🌊 Challenge Accepted Lagoon Keepers 200 hours. 1,000 pounds of trash.
3 months. 1 person.

Boynton C.A.R.E.S. is back, not as a big group this time, but as a personal mission to clean up the Lake Worth Lagoon system.

Not rebuilding the group, just revisiting the mission. I started Boynton C.A.R.E.S. years ago with a few buckets and a dream to keep our coastline clean. The mangroves gave us peace before and they still do. The parks we fought to get adored are thriving, and seeing them now reminds me why I started in the first place. Feels good to be back out here again.

Let’s see what 200 hours of pure effort can do for the waters that connect us all.

💪♻️ Follow along and tag a cleanup spot you think needs attention. Who will take the torch upon completion?

Within one month, there has been lesson air pollution above the Sunshine State's metropolitan areas as the state went into lockdown, reports NASA.

Hoping all of our volunteers are hanging in there during this difficult time.... Here is an interesting read.

Today, we held our 19th monthly cleanup. Thank you everyone for coming!! We had several students from neighboring cities giving their time for our community. 🙂 In addition, Bright Futures Treatment Center was the first to arrive and the last to leave! You guys are a special group and have consistently been there for us without expecting a thing in return. Thank you. Finally, Mayor Steven B. Grant, Boynton Beach, Florida along with a local high school student will be leading next month’s cleanup. Thank you all for your continued support. It means so much! 🙂 -Kevin

Today, we hosted our 18th monthly Boynton CARES cleanup. Thank you Miller's Ale House La Brasa Grill Boynton Beach. We had help from a few new people Jenna Grant Steve Lazerow and Keith Thompson . Mayor Steven B. Grant, Boynton Beach, Florida attended as well along with Marie & Leopold Landry , Steve Lazerow and Sean McKillop who drove down from Jupiter. Thank you to everyone else that came and supported this cleanup. Today's topic began with the infestation of Sargassum seaweed's cousin stemming from Brazil and Africa's runoff. While the currents bring this invasive seaweed our way, the same currents bring plastics all the way to the North Pole, which is inhabited by polar bears. Global warming has made it hard for these bears to hunt on the ice fields, so they have been forced to migrate inland, where they are so desperate for food, the bears are eating plastic. We are all connected and have the opportunity to do something about all of this before it is too late. Thank you again for coming everyone! Your support truly means a whole lot! City of Boynton Beach, Government City of Boynton Beach Recreation and Parks Department
