Huge shoutout to our Shaka volunteer Desi Lobaina! 🌟 His very first competition was this weekend with Grom Surf + Viking Surf Club up in Juno Beach 🏝️. He competed in the 16U heat and crushed it with a 3rd place finish 🥉🔥

From giving back as a Shaka volunteer to making waves in the surf world, Desi is proof that hard work + heart pays off. 🌊💪 We’re so proud of you! 🙌✨

History is on the horizon 🌊🏄‍♀️ The HHSAA has officially added surfing as a state sport, with the inaugural championships happening May 1–2, 2026 at Ho‘okipa Beach Park on Maui’s North Shore.

Student-athletes will compete in three disciplines — shortboard, longboard, and bodyboarding — marking a milestone moment for Hawai‘i high school athletics.

🌊 Volunteer Spotlight: Brooke 🤙

Brooke is more than a volunteer—she’s a leader, role model, and upcoming surfer in our Lend a Shaka program. She dedicates her time to helping kids catch their first waves, cheering them on with patience and positivity.

To honor her dedication—not only to our kids but also to her love for surfing—we gifted her a surfboard 🏄‍♀️💙. Brooke’s compassion and energy inspire everyone around her, and we can’t wait to see her continue growing in and out of the water!

Her commitment shows what Shaka is all about: giving, growing, and creating joy together. From leading on the beach to learning in the lineup, Brooke proves that when you lend a Shaka, you change lives—including your own. 🌊✨

We are beyond grateful for the huge turnout of volunteers this Sunday—what an amazing way to kick off the month! 🌊💙 A special shoutout to the incredible students from the National Honor Society at Coral Springs Charter, who showed up in full force and chose to spend part of their holiday weekend giving back to our community.

Your energy, kindness, and willingness to serve never go unnoticed. It’s always inspiring to see young leaders stepping up, especially when they could be relaxing with family and friends. Thank you for helping us make the day such a success—we truly couldn’t do it without you!
