Got our first J-hanger this morning and more too follow. This means in 2 weeks or less we will start seeing so many monarchs in the area because they will all be coming out about the same time. These we will be the first batch of summer monarchs that only live a few weeks compared to the super generation that flies south.

We have already seen so many species of butterflies this year and in great numbers. This to means its going to be the year of the of the butterflies. 🦋🦋 ✌🏽

It’s not always about the butterflies.😊

Moths are also very important pollinators, some pollinate at night and some during the day. Though I mainly concentrate on butterflies, I have started diving into the world of moths. Such beautiful delicate creatures that you should always welcome them into your garden and the best thing you can do to help them is……..

TURN OFF THOSE LANDSCAPE LIGHTS. Believe it or not insects don’t need lights at night to see your trees or shrubs. They find that stuff better with the lights off. 🤷🏽‍♂️

TURN OFF THE LANDSCAPE LIGHTING AND DIM DOWN THE CITY LIGHTS.. 😏✌🏽

If something is eating your plants, try looking at it a little differently.

Those chewed leaves are feeding caterpillars, beetles, and other insects that are an important part of the food chain. In turn, those insects feed birds and other wildlife. It’s all connected.

A yard with a few holes in the leaves is often a sign that it’s supporting life, not that something is wrong.

I didn’t plant natives expecting every plant to look perfect. I planted them to help create habitat. If that means sharing a few leaves with the creatures that depend on them, that’s a trade I’m happy to make.

Jax and I had a wonderful afternoon at the Boyne Area Senior Center today. We talked about the importance or native plants, trees and our regions butterflies and their Importance to all life on earth.

We had a surprise guest show up as well. This beautiful victory butterfly emerged from
Its chrysalis just in time for everyone to see its beauty.

I love it when people come together with a common interest and engage with Mother Nature together. That’s what these sessions are all about folks, coming together and embracing every part of Mother Nature, yes even the spiders 😂

What a good day,😊Thanks for having us. 🐞
