Horseback riding may help children with autism better manage behavioral and emotional challenges, according to new research. 🐎

The study provides strong evidence suggesting that therapeutic horseback riding can help reduce hyperactivity in children with autism and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. Researchers also found benefits from horse-related activities that don't involve riding, including improvements in emotional regulation and social functioning.

This week is back to school at Great and Small (aka first week of fall session)! Fall is one our busiest times of year on the farm, and we are so excited to welcome back all our participants and volunteers!
As we have been hard at work prepping for the new session, we created a new ‘back to school’ wishlist Amazon registry with some much needed items for our office, barn, and horses. Check it out and consider adding something to your cart this week to help out Great and Small.
Rebel would especially love a new girth, and we are also in need of more double ended snaps!
Thank you 🤩

A day in the life of a volunteer 🐴💚

It’s not always riding horses — sometimes it’s feeding, cleaning, helping with lessons, and doing all the little things that keep our barn running. But every task makes a difference.

At Great and Small, our volunteers help create meaningful experiences for the people we serve. 🫶

Interested in getting involved? Need SSL hours? Or just want to be around horses? We’d love to have you join our team!
