Star Party at Parker River NWR (Newburyport) POSTPONED to the cloud date Oct 15.

Our next observing event will be at PRNWR. You need to register on their site: https://www.fws.gov/event/star-party-after-hours-event-1

We'll have a number of scopes set up in Lot 1 for viewing from 7 to 9 (note that the gate closes a little after 7).

At the moment it looks like Tuesday might be clouded out and the event might be held Thursday. You'll receive an update the day of the event after registering.

Last Friday night, NSAAC club members shared the views through 10+ telescopes with 120+ visitors at our annual Trails and Sails star party at Battis Farm in Amesbury.

Despite clouds drifting in and out, we were able to show guests many celestial objects including the Moon, Saturn, and the Andromeda Galaxy!

Our next public events are currently scheduled for October (10/13) and November (11/3) at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island. More details to follow.

Tonight's Sails & Trails star party at Battis Farm, Amesbury, Friday Sept 18th, will GO AHEAD AS PLANNED.

We expect some clouds will drift through but we should have opportunities to show you a number of objects.

Come look at the night sky through telescopes that will be set up for viewing. Cloud free conditions required.

NSAAC members with their telescopes set up for public viewing will be at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport on Tuesday night Sep 15.

There is no registration needed for the event, but please check their website and/or this Facebook post for weather information as we need clear skies to have the Star Party. A backup date of Sept 16th will be used if the 15th is cloudy.

Maudslay State Park features 19th century gardens and plantings, rolling meadows, towering pines, and one of the largest naturally-occurring stands of mountain laurel in Massachusetts. It's the perfect place for a walk, bike ride or picnic. Educational programs are offered during the summer.

Due to expected clouds we've had to CANCEL tonight's Sails & Trails Star Party at Battis Farm.

We have another Sails & Trails date planned for Sep 18th, weather permitting.

Trails and Sails is an event series that brings awareness and appreciation for heritage resources around the county.

NOTE: Due to clouds rescheduled to Thursday Sept 10th. Our next Star Party will be at Parker River NWR in Newburyport. This is an amazing location and being on the water the skies are darker in the East. The rangers there have a number of activities planned leading up to the Star Party.

UPDATE: Due to clouds/rain this is scheduled to July 8th at Appleton Farms in Ipswich. We'll be out with our scopes to help the effort to keep this amazing property as a working farm. Registration required: https://thetrustees.org/event/447744/
