Boxborough Harvest Fair

The Boxborough Harvest Fair celebrates Boxborough's rural heritage by providing townspeople with the opportunity to exhibit the garden products and craft items which they have produced over the past year.

Want to learn to start your own seeds this March? Join us for a Seed-Starting Workshop in the Daisy Hill Farm Grow Room!

Our 3/8 9:30 am class is SOLD OUT so we added a few NEW workshops!

1-2:30pm Sunday, 3/9/25

10-11:30am Friday, 3/14/25

1-2:30pm Sunday, 3/16/25

Workshop Description: Grow your own healthy vegetable, flower, and herb plants from seed! Starting your own seeds allows you to choose your own specific plant varieties, plus it is a great way to bypass those late-winter blues! We have a variety of tips and tricks as well to share after almost 20 years of seed starting. In this class you will learn about seed sourcing, grow area set-up, timing of starting seedlings, what soil to use, how often to water, and how to safely harden off seedlings for their move outside.

Boxborough Friends -

I know we talked last year about bringing 'back' the Harvest Fair, but we were still short the number of volunteers we needed to have a stand-alone event, so, we're continuing our partnership with the FreeBee team (since we have a lot of overlapping members).

That means that THIS Saturday is our mini-festival, held in concert with the monthly Boxborough FreeBee Community Market and it will have a lot of echoes of core Harvest Fair events that were tradional to the Boxborough Grange events of yore.

In other words, it will include much more than "just" gleaned, ready-to-eat, shareable FREE food.

There will be a live orchestra!

There will be a small animal petting zoo!

There will be tractors to check out!

There will be an elementary-aged bounce house!

There will be information booths (no selling or $ solicitations allowed) for projects, resources, and volunteer opportunities!

There will be tables with craft supplies and books (and you can bring any of yours to share, too!)

And of course, we'll have the tables for sharing produce, baked goods, breads, and pantry items - all free, and all welcome!

(Note, if it is challenging for you to participate in the turn-taking lines to select your preferred food rescue items, please reach out and we can prepare a small number of pre-selected, non-exchangeable, individually-sized boxes as an alternative to joining the lines.)

We hope to see you!

Remember, all are welcome, and FreeBee works hard to make sure that everyone takes something home! (Even if you are coming to 'collect' information and bring smiles.)

And if you'd like to see the stand-alone Harvest Fair back in 2025, come talk to a volunteer, or message us. We can form a new committee to start planning now. 🙂

i love this SO much!

Farmer Kate Despres is such a treasure (and an engaged volunteer here in Boxborough, too).

Her home-based Daisy Hill farm abuts the far end of the Acton Arboretum and is a great place for locally-grown seedlings and other garden supplies / information.

But i’m sharing this video because of the joyful attitude that i think we all share when seeing plants just starting to grow 🥰

We are excited to be holding an Open House Sunday April 7th, from 3-5pm. We’ve been working through the winter in preparation of some exciting spring, summer and fall programs, workshops and farm events!

Come learn about what’s in store this year, meet the farm animals, tour the farm and enjoy some baked goods and refreshments.

Hope to see you there!

How is your garden growing?

Mine is *so* happy for the last 2 days of SUN. ☀️☀️☀️

I am excited to be growing - most of my yield is headed to the weekly food rescue tables at FreeBee Network & Market (Saturdays at 10:30am - 30 Middle Rd on the lawn of the UCCB).

Want to learn more? Plus, want to hear about plans for what Harvest Fair could be this fall? (September 9th!)

Come visit our booth at the Boxborough Minutemen Company’s Fifer’s Day *this Saturday*!

We’d love to bring back the ‘best veggie’ exhibits for 2023, but to make it happen we need 4-5 NEW volunteers to take on the organizing - just for that element. We have materials to get you started!

Come sit and chat with us, and help us bring back this special Boxborough tradition.

So - We just passed Labor Day, so you know what that means?

This Saturday (9/10) is the day for Boxborough's Harvest Fair!!
🍁🍂🌻

Haven't heard us promoting it this year, you say?

Well - that's because the remaining org team members are also founders of the FreeBee Network & Market, and we just didn't have the bandwidth to bring the full Harvest Fair to life this year. 😢

HOWEVER, we will have 'elements' of our beloved Harvest event, including:
- the Petting Zoo
- a make-your-own Cider Press (we could use more apples!)
- the Nashoba Valley Concert Band
- an info table from the on 'how to raise backyard Chickens'

Wish we were hosting the Exhibits / Judging of harvest, craft, photo entries? Trust us, we do too!

YOU can play a role in bringing those back for 2023. We need new volunteers to make it happen!
Please comment below and send us your email address (by messenger, or to [email protected] ) if you can join the Harvest Fair team.

We'd LOVE to welcome a new Harvest Fair-focused team and can give you all sorts of tips, hints and guidance to get it back up and running. We just didn't have the person-power to make both events happen this fall.

Come see us at the Harvest Fair-themed FreeBee, though!
Event Link + Details here: https://fb.me/e/3upmk139r

We'll have free food, places to bring your garden produce to share, lots of info tables (more welcome!), free flower arrangements, crafts, books, and a place to drop off ready-to-wear Halloween costumes that your kids have outgrown.
(Come back 10/15 to pick out new ones for this year!)

And tell your friends!

***Sunday UPDATE: Everything but a birthday cake (now frozen - want it?) was re-homed yesterday. 🎉

The self-serve table happens Saturdays, only. We’ll be back next week, July 9, and will be set up between ~10am and ~3pm.

We can’t predict what food will be there at any time, and it is likely that much of what people offer to share will arrive around lunch / early afternoon.

Feel free to check it out any time.
All welcome!

And we’d love to receive any excess garden produce that your own plants produce.

Please see our FreeBee page for info on volunteering, or email [email protected] ❤️❤️👍🏻🙌🏻
**********************************

Free food!!

We just received a giant load of bread, rolls, fresh carrots, garlic scapes - even a birthday cake!

Come before 4:00 and make sure none of this is wasted.

Lots and lots of plants, too.
Hot peppers and tomatoes already with fruit on them.

30 Middle Road Boxborough

Hooray for FreeBee Network & Market pop ups! Every Saturday this summer. ❤️

Are you coming to Fifer’s Day? Look for our mini display at the ‘Old Coot’ table :)

Are you coming to Fifer’s Day?

Look for our mini display at the ‘Old Coot’ table :)

It’s Fifer’s Day!

We’re not hosting an official booth, but a FreeBee friend offered us a corner of his tent to put up a little display.

Come grab a free seedling, a schedule for our remaining events Aug 20, Sept 10 (with Boxborough Harvest Fair!), and October 15.

And BIG NEWS! We’re looking for a team to take charge of a new program:

We’re hoping to offer Self-Serve Pop-Up veggie + bread tables on Saturdays in July and August.

But we need HELP to make it happen. Can you join us?

Reach out here, or email [email protected]

See you at Fifer’s Day!
