Little by little over the past week, I have been learning pieces of a story I never knew. And today, those pieces came together in such a beautiful way!
I am very uncertain about the timeframe, but maybe in the 1980s or early 1990’s, a missionary named Jack Henderson and his wife, from Tennessee, lived in the little wooden cabin that still stands on our ministry property. Jack along with Mike (Miguel) Murphy planted a church in the community of Los Jobos.
Fast forward several decades…
Recently, I shared a photo of a ceiling fan and light that we purchased for a classroom for that very church. Mike Murphy, who lived here once upon a time, and is my Facebook friend, saw the post and commented that Jack (Juan) Henderson had planted the church and served as pastor.
And today, while visiting that very church, I learned even more!
Don Ramiro Mejia, an 86-year-old man, who could barely walk with the assistance of a cane, made his way to the front of the church to share his testimony. ❤️
This man came to know Christ because of Jack Henderson! And not only that, he helped lay the concrete blocks when the church building was constructed!
Can you imagine? All these years later, he is still worshiping in the very church he helped build, a church planted by the missionary who introduced him to Jesus. A man who once lived on our ministry property.
What began as a simple post about a ceiling fan and light has turned into something more special and beautiful.
We may never know, this side of heaven, the full impact of a life lived in service to Christ. Jack Henderson planted seeds decades ago, and today we are still seeing the fruit of his faithfulness.
What a privilege to learn a little more about the spiritual history of the place God has entrusted to us. ❤️
