In celebration of our country's 250th anniversary, the Sidney E. King Foundation for the Arts, Inc. and the Caroline Historical Society, Inc. have teamed up on to create an exhibit promoting our proud history.
Please stop by and have your picture taken with former Presidents (General) George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
See a "rare" early 1820s Broadside of our Declaration of Independence printed by master engraver Eleazar Huntington of Hartford, Connecticut. Copies of this important document were often seen in 19th-century schoolhouses. This very special exhibit is on temporary loan and will be available to view for a limited time.
Our 250th exhibit includes a variety of Sidney E. King paintings of colonial life during the Revolutionary War era to compliment the primitive farm tools and household furnishings of the same time period. In addition, one will see the 1700s "Woolfolk Musket" issued to the Caroline Militia during our fight for freedom. You will view a tribute to local Caroline County hero, General William Woodford (1734-1780) highlighted by a diorama depicting his famous victory at the Battle of Great Bridge, Virginia.
The attached photos will give visitors some idea of what to expect when arriving. Be sure to take time to view the large collection of Sidney E. King paintings in our art gallery, the World War II Caroline County veterans exhibit, and other local history displays by the Caroline Historical Society.
