"I'm extremely thankful for my placement at the Butler County Department of Community Based Services for field and seminar. The experiences I have had in my time at Protection and Permanency will influence my work in the near future by teaching me useful abilities and improving the skills I've already learned in WKU's Social Work Program.
I want to thank my supervisor and everyone at the DCBS office, your personalities and abilities in working with the community has affirmed that I am in the right career. Thank you for not only showing your dedication through your work and empowering your clients and also by empowering me."

The Summer term is coming to a close for a few students in their practicum.

Sarah shares her thoughts on her experience so far:

"During field I have learned so much about how to do my job, how to apply what I have learned in class, and what this field entails. But the most important thing I have gained in my internship is the upmost respect and appreciation for Social Workers. This is a tough field, but those in it are working selflessly and tirelessly for the good of their clients and a better outcome.
When challenges arise, they lean on one another and are better because of it. This has pushed me to zealously advocate on behalf of my clients, my fellow workers, and those oppressed around me. People matter and THAT is why we do what we do. This is the heart of the job!!" @ Western Kentucky University

This is Emma Robbins and she's a Public Child Welfare Certification Program (PCWCP) recipient. She also just graduated on Friday May 10, 2019. Here's what she has to say about graduating:

"I did it! But not without the help and support of so many people. I was honored to be able to be part of the Public Child Welfare Certification Program, which connected me with amazing social work students from all over the state and gave a jump start to my career. I’m thankful for the Social Work program at WKU. All of my teachers challenged me to be a competent and ethical social worker, and I will be forever grateful."

Congratulations to all 2019 graduates! @ Western Kentucky University

Meet Chelsea Kirby; she's graduating this May with a Bachelor's in Social Work.

This is what she has to say about graduating and what she hopes for in the future:

"It feels amazing to be graduating because I am the first one in my family to do it. As far back as I can remember, my parents have told me that I was going to be the first one to graduate and didn’t accept anything less from me and here I am! I actually did it! My hope for the future is that I can be successful and empower other people to succeed."
