Bowling Green Noon Lions Club

09/23/2026

This morning, several of our club did an eye screening with Warren Elementary, 224 students and 65 referrals ! We don’t take pictures of the children, and I didn’t get any of the Lions either. Our club will be able to help many of the students get their glasses at no cost to them. We work thru the school resource center for specific needs. While there, I saw these two graphics. The first is a saying as you leave the school. Although, I didn’t go to Warren County Schools, I liked the saying. The second is a world map, each flag represents part of the student population. (Zoom in on it to see the details ) I can only imagine the creativity required when very little English is understood by the student. Lots of different languages and dialects.

On a different note, Lions clubs all over the state of KY screen school children. If your school needs assistance and not sure who to contact, please comment on this post and someone from our club will reach out to you with detail information.

Thanks to everyone that gave to Give for Good Louisville

THANK YOU to everyone who helped spread the word about KLEF's participation in Give For Good Louisville yesterday and to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts!

Because of our generous supporters, $11,640 was raised to support the FREE programs and services that our volunteers and staff provide to over 30,000 Kentuckians each year! THANK YOU!

Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation 2026 goals for Give for Good Louisville were:

Goal #1: Raise $15,000 to help support our mission!

We raised 78% of our goal amount and there is still time to help get us closer to this amount.

Goal #2: Receive donations from 100+ individuals, organizations or groups.

We received donations from 63 tremendous donors!

Goal #3: Have 100% board & staff participation.

We had 100% staff participation and we had 68% of our trustees participate! THANK YOU!!

Donations are always accepted on the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation website, so if you missed the opportunity yesterday but want to Give For Good today, use this link - www.kylionseye.org/donate.

We also want to send a BIG THANK YOU to the following Matching Fund Sponsors!

$5,000 - Louisville Downtown Lions Club
$1,000 - Lion Betty Boggess
$500 - Lawrenceburg Lions Club
$100 - North Hardin Lions Club / Mark Kelly

The funds raised during this giving day campaign will directly support our programs and services that are provided to Kentuckians across the state!

Our lions club needs our community’s help. At our race water stop (held on Labor Day) between 638-664 Newberry in the Hartland subdivision, there was a table and 5 gallon water cooler. After the race was run and before these borrowed items were picked up, they disappeared. If you have any knowledge where they went- no questions asked- please call 270-779-9438 to arrange a pick up. We appreciate your help. The race is our fundraiser to help get vision to people who need it. We will need to replace these borrowed items which lowers our income levels. So any info you can share is appreciated.
