An important program- farmers, check it out!

Farmers who experienced quality losses to eligible crops, trees, bushes and vines now have more flexibility when it comes to documenting those losses. We'll be hosting a Farming Family Potluck on August 25th! We hope this potluck will be an opportunity for fellowship between our local farming families and to celebrate all of your hard work as we leave summer and enter harvest season.

The potluck will be from 6-8pm at the Cedell Brooks Jr. Park picnic shelter (11215 Henry Griffin Rd, King George). We encourage you to bring a dish to share, but it isn't required! Please rsvp here: https://tinyurl.com/farmfoodfun so we can get an approximate headcount for refreshments.

Curious about if cover crops work on your land? Interested in vetch and want a low-risk way to try it out? Sign up for our Vetch Variety Trial! We're seeking 25 farmers in USDA zones 5-8 to plant vetch varieties this fall.

Vetch is a high Nitrogen contribution and high-biomass cover crop. Participants will receive 4 improved vetch varieties to identify vetch cover crop varieties suited to the Mid-Atlantic region. Vetch will be grown in mixture with rye and evaluated by growers for performance using the SeedLinked app for traits like fall vigor, winter hardiness, flowering timing, w**d suppression, biomass, and termination.
